Holiday adventures await at Lamai Beach.

Lamai Beach is the second largest resort area on Koh Samui. It is quieter than the largest area, Chaweng Beach, but still has plenty of dining options, bars, clubs and other activities. This makes it a great option for those who want action but prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. Furthermore, from Lamai Beach it's easy to get around the island, with all the major attractions just a short drive away.

HomeAway offers a variety of holiday rentals at Lamai Beach. Accommodations include large villas with private pools and enough space to house much larger groups as well as smaller bungalows and houses that are ideal for families and small groups. All of HomeAway’s holiday rentals at Lamai Beach are equipped with full kitchens and other amenities that help to make each holiday rental a true home away from home.

HomeAway also has other holiday rentals spread around Koh Samui, helping to ensure that each visitor finds the accommodations that best suit their needs. Many tourists who visit Koh Samui also like to explore Phuket, where HomeAway has several holiday homes.

Things to do

Coco Splash Waterpark:

Coco Spash Waterpark is a fun day trip for the whole family. There are numerous slides and pools, and visitors can also take advantage of the go-karts, bumper boats and bungee trampoline. The tree-to-tree area features aerial ropes courses, and kids are sure to love the inflatable castle.

Flyboard Koh Samui Lamai:

Flyboarding involves a water jetpack attached to a watercraft. The pack allows one to propel the craft in the air and the water. It is a difficult sport at first, but the team at Flyboard Koh Samui is friendly and helpful, and visitors will be zipping through the water and the air in no time.

Hin Yai and Hin Ta:

Hin Yai and Hin Ta, or Grandmother and Grandfather, are two curious stones that resemble female and male genitalia respectively. These natural beauties are good for a laugh, and the views from the rocks are nothing less than stunning.

Samui Shell Museum:

The Samui Shell Museum is run by a Spaniard who has lived on the island for the last 28 years with his wife. Those with an interest in underwater life will enjoy the stories and histories recounted by the owner, while the various types of shells on display are beautiful to behold.

Wat Khunaram:

Wat Khunaram is home to a unique mummified monk. When the monk died in a seated meditative position, his body was mummified in that same stance and placed behind glass. The temple and mummified monk give tourists an insight into Thai beliefs about life and death.

The Snorkelling Point of Koh Samui:

Koh Samui is known for its snorkelling, and the Snorkelling Point of Koh Samui is one of the best spots to visit. Swim out and explore the beautiful coral reefs, where the variety of fish will astound even the most experienced snorkelers.

Weather at Lamai Beach

The weather on Koh Samui is invariably clement. March and April see temperatures of up to 32°C, and temperatures never drop below 26°C throughout the year. The rainy season is from September to November; while beach holidays are still enjoyable during this season, divers and snorkelers are advised to plan holidays to Koh Samui at other periods, when underwater visibility is not impaired by the rains.

Travel to Lamai Beach

The best way to get to Lamai Beach is to fly into Samui Airport (USM). Upon arrival either rent a car or take an inexpensive taxi to the eastern coast of the island, where Lamai Beach is located. Those travelling to Koh Samui from Phuket can either take a one-hour flight directly from Phuket or travel by ferry. The ferry ride takes about six hours.

Stylish and relaxing stay

5 of 5
We had a lovely time in Villa Cloud 9. The decor was stylish, the amenities excellent (full Sky package went down a treat) and the garden beautifully landscaped. Decent size pool, bring a lilo or two! Nice touch to offer an airport pick up on arrivaltoo. Useful tips to note: Thongson Bay is the nearest beach, and small but peaceful - the ladies by the restaurant give an amazing massage. It's about 15 mins walk away from the villa. Sunset by Angelina bar by Big Buddha a must for sunset, get down there by 5.30 ish for the best spot. Shambala, a couple of doors down from entrance to Buddha, do a brilliant curry, and great cocktails, and Bob Marley bar next door to there is a lot of fun. Michelle is a great taxi service - she took us to the big Tesco Lotus for a big grocery shop on our first day. The local Seven Elevens are good for snacks but rubbish for fresh food. We used the Hangover Samui app to order in lunch most days. Bring dishwasher tablets and dishwasher salt. We couldn't find either, anywhere on the island. Electricity costs more on top. We had two of the air con units and fans, as well as general everyday electricity, running for 70% of the time, for ten days, and it cost £140. This is standard across Thailand, apparently. Taxis also very pricey. Approx 500 baht to Fisherman's Village (approx 15 mins drive away). If you want privacy and seclusion, and you like minimalist style, then Villa Cloud 9 is for you.

A super villa in a great location for a relaxing holiday

5 of 5
A spacious villa that had everything our family needed. The accommodation was very clean and well maintained- the shared pool was perfect and only a 30 second walk to the beach. The local contact for the villa was very helpful and ensured we had local advice when we needed it.
