Make a holiday rental, home or villa in Switzerland your home away from home

Choose Switzerland for your Ski Holidays

Landlocked between France, Italy, Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein, Switzerland offers a huge amount of activities and natural beauty. Switzerland is an Alpine country, and therefore offers exceptional skiing in winter, hiking in summer and Swiss Alpine chalets for rent. The capital of Switzerland, Bern, is a melting pot of German, French and Italian cultures, fused with the tidy, prompt and well ordered Swiss mentality.

Places to holiday in Switzerland

Bernese Oberland is a major skiing destination, with 9 world-class destinations high in the Alps. It is spectacularly beautiful, and the walking in the summer is un-rivalled, with clear air, snow capped mountains lush hills and jagged rocks.

Valais, one of the 26 cantons of Switzerland is a fascinating land of mountains; ripe for skiing, climbing and downhill biking, as well as fabulous golf, white water rafting, paragliding and bungee jumping in the summer. There is plenty to entertain a family staying in Valais rental accommodation.

Lake Geneva is considered to be a showcase for all things Swiss. Snowy mountains, vineyards, castles, cathedrals, the lake itself and bustling nightlife can all be enjoyed from a city break to Geneva.

Graubunden, is an almost entirely mountainous canton of Switzerland, and has much of the Swiss National Park and Ela Nature Park within its boundaries.

Things to do in Switzerland

A holiday to Switzerland can take many different forms. Switzerland's Alpine ski resorts and snow sports are legendary. There is fantastic skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, bobsleighing, snow shoe hikes through picturesque snow covered forests and lively après-ski in abundance. Skiing holidays to Switzerland are extremely popular due to not only the authenticity of the country and the lack of crowds, but also the quality of natural and man made resources.

During the summer, the spectacular mountain views and pure air make Switzerland a summer favourite for hiking, walking, climbing and mountain biking. If you discover a natural pool high in the mountains a refreshing dip in some of the most tranquil surroundings in Europe always helps to clear your mind and weary limbs!

The country is wonderfully authentic, and Alpine dairies, Swiss chocolate and clocks are still as prominent as they always have been. It is impossible to sum up all there is on offer in Switzerland in any article less than a full book, but there is undoubtedly something for everyone here, and the unbelievable beauty of much of the country is humbling!

Weather in Switzerland

Summer is warm, lasting from June to September, with average temperatures peaking at around 25°C in July, the busiest tourist period. Switzerland's ski resorts open in mid-November and remain open until April. Winter temperatures can dip as low as -3°C in the mountains during the winter, but average temperatures are around 2°C during the coldest months.

Travel to Switzerland

Switzerland has three main Airports, Zurich Airport (ZRH), Bern Belp Airport (BRN) and Geneva Cointrin International Airport (GVA), so there is plenty of access to which ever destination you decide to take a holiday rental in Switzerland.

Fab place, accommodation and contents, will definitely stay in appt again

5 of 5
Better than we imagined, apartment (clean and well maintained) had all we needed for a perfect time in the Swiss Alps (2 adults and 2 Labrador dogs). Fab quality furniture, hard flooring throughout and bathroom which I wanted to take home! Spacious underground parking space, keeping car cool in Summer. Lift to first floor appt very close. Large fridge (no access to freezer - 1 drawer for ice would be perfect as JD and coke isn’t the same without it!) and plenty of utensils/crockery to cook with (no need to eat out). Lovely view of valley and surrounding hills/mountains via bedrooms’ windows and large terrace off living room. Plenty of hanging space for clothes. Very helpful receptionist who offered us cheaper (than train who charge half price for dogs) group taxi service into Zermatt (not able to drive into there in our own car apparently, although we did see many cars entering!). Fantastic walks all around - Taschalp, Gornergrat railway/mountain (beers at Riffelhaus highly recommended as fantastic view of the Matterhorn and paragliders taking off/gliding), and longest suspension bridge above Randa, are among our favourites, all easily accessible via car, bike or foot. Would stay again now if I had enough holiday!!!

Attractive area enhanced by a very high quality apartment

5 of 5
The apartment was excellent with plenty of space and a very wide range of facilities. The owner although some distance away very quickly, with the help of a neighbour, sorted out our internet and TV issues. The view was as shown in the photograph and the extensive garden a delight in which to sit or to have meals in - the weather was so good during our week we sat outside for breakfast and, when in, in the evening. The most appreciated feature of our week was, perhaps, the booklet of free entry tickets which also gave us free transport within the area. We used this extensively travelling into Neuchatel by tram, taking train train trips, and a boat trip across the lake. although the tourist tax was twenty one Swiss francs each for the week the free pass must have saved us something in the region of 200 francs. Hats off to the local authorities for allowing this concession and to the owners for arranging it in advance for us.
