Winter and summer stays - excellent chalet

5 of 5
I have stayed in this lovely chalet with my family a couple of times now (grandparent (me), adults and young family and also a mother and daughter week). I stayed once in winter and then again during the summertime. It is a clean and very nicely kept place and Charly and Kevin the owners are also very helpful. As a non skier, it was very convenient for me to enjoy snowy strolls from the chalet, to watch the children learning on the nearby beginner slope and worry about how fast they were going on the toboggan run! The views and the purity of the air were a delight. And the stars .... spectacular ..... Although the young ones skied straight from the house to the village I found it easy to catch the ski bus to and from the centre of the village where there are lovely bars, cafes and friendly restaurants. There's also a park with swings and slides and a swimming pool. It was very easy to take the pedestrian lift up to the top of the mountain and over into Verbier town centre for some browsing. I also enjoyed the nearby thermal spa - a particular treat. I think it was a 25 minute drive / not far but the winding drive down the mountain takes time. Well worth the trip. In the summer (I stayed in July) it was very easy to drive (I have some mobility issues and so couldn't hike/bike with the young ones) over the tops of the mountains to Verbier town and the local regions where there is much to see and do. The local Valais canton is the fruit region and the juiciest fresh fruits are available to buy from the road side. The local fendent wine (which I understand the Swiss don't export) is very nice. We also enjoyed days by the lake Geneva as recommended where we went swimming and canoeing (not me!). The facilities at the chalet are very good. Importantly for me, the beds are very comfortable and the kitchen has everything in it that one could need for a comfortable family stay. They even had 2 high chairs which was a boon for our clan! The chalet has of the new age internet and tv things that are so popular, but I found a good book, its tranquility (it was large enough to find some, even with a house full!) and outstanding scenery by far the most enjoyable pastimes. Chalet Marie is a super place and I recommend it very highly.

Beautiful & elegant chalet with perfect location

5 of 5
I spent 4 great days walking and snowshoeing in the area while my friends went skiing. The area catered for all our needs and levels. Very easy access to Verbier and surroundings! The chalet is brand new, built to a very high standard and is very elegant and stylish. The views from the open plan kitchen/dinning and living room are breathtaking. Happiness started with coffee and breakfast looking at the mountains and the days ended cooking dinner in the superbly equipped kitchen and drinking by the fire. Beds were very comfortable, and our bathroom had a shower and bath, which was great. The supermarket, bakery, rental shops and sky lifts are within walking distance, or 5 mins by car. The train connection to Geneva airport is great (only 15 mins drive to the nearest train station and approx. 2 hours to the airport - and the trip along the lake is amazing!). I would definitely recommend it and would go there again, with friends and my family. I would also love to explore the area in the summer. I have been told by people that know it well that it is gorgeous and you can go hiking or take beautiful walks. Many thanks Chalet Grand Roi!
