Make a holiday rental apartment or chalet in Engelberg / Titlis, Switzerland your home away from home

The Engelberg/Titlis ski region lies in the very heart of central Switzerland, first inhabited by Benedictine monks in the 10th century. Standing in the mighty shadow of Mount Titlis, the resort first came to fame as a spa retreat in the mountains, but now, the irresistible combination of crisp, clean air, excellent, modern facilities and magnificent ski terrain make Engelberg Titlis one of the most sought after skiing regions in Switzerland.

Things to do in Engelberg / Titlis, Switzerland

The skiing in Engelberg/Titlis is fearsome. There are two separate ski areas available from an Engelberg Titlis chalet, meaning that skiers and snowboarders of all levels can have an excellent skiing holiday. There are over 82km of pistes, served by 27 lifts available from the domain, with the Brunni domain ideal for intermediate skiers whilst the far side of the valley, below Mount Titlis, is a challenge for even experienced snow sports enthusiasts. Alpine skiers will be astonished by the number of black and red runs that run down from the Titlis Glacier, including a single, 12km run which drops over 2,000 metres along its course. The off-piste potential is excellent too, especially in the famous Laub routes. Local guides are readily available, many of which speak excellent English.

During the winter months, visitors to Engelberg/Titlis accommodation can enjoy a whole range of activities including tobogganing, snow shoe hiking, dog sleigh rides and paragliding as well as ice skating and curling in the resort. The excellent spa facilities of Engelberg are an absolute delight in the evening, soaking away any aches from tired limbs after a hard day of exhilarating sport.

The Titlis Glacier is a fantastic asset for year round skiing, and is served by an amazing revolving cable car, which offers absolutely magnificent views in 360?. Summers in Engelberg / Titlis, Switzerland, are filled with entertainment too, as the whole region becomes awash with the colour and smell of blossoming meadows, which provide a startling contrast to the barren, snow capped peaks on the horizon. The walking, hiking and mountain biking opportunities are endless, and there are some intensely testing climbing routes to conquer. Paragliding and white water rafting trips are absolutely excellent, and there is even an 18 hole golf course to play.

Places to visit on holiday to Engelberg / Titlis, Switzerland

The resort of Engelberg receives fantastic snow each year, and has one of the best snow records around. The resort itself is wonderfully modest, yet has access to some absolutely fantastic skiing, especially for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. The Engelberg Monastery is a tourist attraction in itself, but when you combine it with the magnificent scenery, year round skiing and wealth of sporting activities make Engelberg a top destination in Switzerland.

Cheap flights to Engelberg / Titlis, Switzerland

Zurich Airport (ZRH) is just an hour and a half from a chalet in Engelberg Titlis. Although you can reach the resort in just a couple of hours by using the excellent train network, taking a hire car would be an easier option.

We stayed here for a week with our two girls aged 6 and 8yrs and requested a catered option. It was amazing and we had a lovely holiday. John, Jacqueline and Matt were brilliant hosts and couldn't do enough for us. Matt cooked and all the food was really tasty. The chalet itself is full of character and really cosy with fantastic views of Engelberg. There is a 5min walk from the road on a path down to the chalet. It can be a bit slippy, but we were warned and had spikes on our boots and made sure we held the girls hands. The bus goes from the road at the top so it's relatively easy to get to and from the slopes. Engelberg is a very pretty ski resort and we had lots of fun exploring. We would definitely recommend this chalet and would go again!

A little piece of heaven on earth.....

We stayed in the apartment in the first week of December in 2007... it is THE best place we have ever stayed. The views are breathtaking, and seemed to get more breathtaking by the day. Every morning that I woke up I would jump straight out of bed and open up the shutters to get a glimpse of the view. We wanted for nothing, everything was there and more. The apartment was clean, spotless and looked after. The real fire was comforting and serene after a day out skiing and the cold. And the hot tub was amazing! We also had lots and lots of snow, it didn't stop snowing for a good few days and was beautiful to watch the heavy snow through the panoramic windows whilst warming our toes in front of the fire. I cannot wait to go back to this apartment... and we most definitely will! The chalet owners are really friendly and helpful too.

                                A Swiss delight!

Maigluck is a fabulous place to stay. We came across this property on the internet and found the booking process very simple and the owners to be extremely helpful. The accommodation is clean, spacious, well equipped and well laid out. We had four adults and two children in our party and everyone enjoyed themselves. The centre of Engelberg is a lovely 10 minute walk away and has all the amenities you require. Both the local swimming pool and the Eienwaldli were fantastic. We would especially recommend taking the cable car to Titlus, 4 meters of snow, fantastic, and the train journey to Lucern is not to be missed! We had an exceptional meal at the Schweizerhaus restaurant one evening and it was only a couple of minutes walk away. We would happily recommend this chalet and hope to return ourselves very soon.
