  • A cute and cosy place!

This house is quite basic but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed one week with our dog, and it was the perfect little place to explore the island. It is a warm and cosy house; the toilet is on the outside but we are used to camping, and were looking for something simple, so this suited us. It's very clean, and the landlord leaves you in peace even though he lives directly behind. It's very peaceful and quiet. We would recommend this place if you're looking for simple comfort; it's also only about £40 (maybe less) to pay for cleaning at the end, which is very reasonable considering what other owners on this site charge. The owner only speaks Swedish, but we managed to communicate very well (even on the phone!) using a mix of English and German; and he is very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed staying here.

We came out to Kalmar for Ironman Sweden in 2014. 6 of us came to Kalmar as 3 couples with 3 of us participating in the Ironman in August. The property is a nice house situated just outside of a small town called Borgholm on the island of Oland. Everything was clean and easy to use with all the kitchenware needed on hand able to help make large meals for the 6 of us. There was enough indoor and outdoor seating for the 6 of us as well and the bedrooms all varying in sizes but all with enough space to take all of our bags and throw our clothes around the place. The lounge was great and we were able to use the TV easily. The property was as shown on the ad and had a really nice feel. The local area is really nice with a great bakery and access to a supermarket only a 2 minute walk away that seemed to stock almost all the food that we needed (no wine though). A couple of restaurants locally but Borgholm is around a 5min drive south and is a little bigger with a larger range of restaurants and cafeterias to choose from. There is a white sand beach about a 5min walk away from the property as well which was great to relax on and go for a swim. The beach did have some jellyfish but they were harmless and did not sting, so we could easily go for a swim if we wanted to. When booking, Kaj was really nice to deal with in that he was flexible, sent through any pictures of the property that we requested and supplied all information required. We paid a deposit via paypal and Kaj also drafted up and we signed a rental contract for the property. We paid cash on arrival and Kaj took us on a tour of the property and also gave us advice on where to visit, where to go for food and he was a phone call away if we needed anything else. We all agreed that if we were going back to this area we would definitely come back to this property. It was comfortable and Kaj was really nice to deal with. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area for a nice summer holiday. A blog that I wrote about the trip is below if you would like to read into a bit more. I wrote a blog about the week which is amateur ironman on wordpress. No link as not allowed I am afraid. Cheers Guy
