Make A Holiday Rental Apartment in Blekinge, Sweden, Your Home Away From Home

Blekinge is a province to the far south of Sweden. The province’s name comes from the adjective ‘bleke’, which translates as dead calm, which relates to its Baltic Sea coastal location. Visitors looking to spend their holidays in Blekinge will find that there is a great choice of self catering holiday rental accommodation available within the province. There are apartments and townhouses to be found in its larger towns, such as Karlshamn, Ronneby and Karlskrona, as well as more traditional Swedish chalets and wooden cabins in the surrounding countryside.

Things to Do on Holiday in Blekinge, Sweden

Visitors spending their holidays in Blekinge will find that there are plenty of activities to enjoy in this part of southern Sweden, to suit most budgets and interests. The beaches and coves of the province’s coastal strip are popular amongst water sports enthusiasts, where angling, boating, kayaking and, weather permitting, bathing in the bracing waters of the Baltic Sea are popular pursuits. Pleasure boat cruises to explorer the numerous islands of the off-lying Hallaryd archipelago would be a less strenuous activity. The wooded hinterland of Blekinge are popular walking, hiking and cycling country, whilst visitors looking to enjoy a spot of retail therapy may wish to head to the region’s largest city, Karlskrona, with its wide shopping malls and squares.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Blekinge, Sweden

The larger towns and cities of the Blekinge province provide visitors the opportunity to enjoy the more cultural and architecturally interesting sites and landmarks of the region. Karlskrona plays host to an annual midsummer’s eve fair, known as the Leaf Fair, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the city every year. The city also boasts such gems as the 17th century Church of holy Trinity, with its unusual Italian architectural style and UNESCO World Heritage designated naval installations. Nearby Ronneby is often referred to as ‘the Garden of Sweden’, due to Brunnsparken, which was once voted as being one of the most beautiful European parks.

Visitors looking to spend their holidays in Blekinge will find that southern Sweden has an oceanic climate. This means that summers can be warm, with temperatures often reaching the early 20s degrees Celsius. Winters are much cooler, with temperatures averaging between -5 and 5 degrees Celsius. Blekinge receives an average annual rainfall of around 23 inches, much of which will fall as snow in mid-winter.

Lovely little cottage with stunning views of the Baltic

5 of 5
We have just come back from two very relaxing weeks in this lovely little cottage just outside Sölvesborg. All was as described and the owner, Leiff, was very helpful and made us feel welcome from the beginning. Whilst we enjoyed the peace, quiet and stunning views the place offers, our boys, 7 and 9, loved being outside all hours and spent most of their time on the jetty by the water . A small beach is within a short walking distance to cover any needs for sand castle construction :) Shops are only a short drive away for all your family needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Sweden and would are happy to recommend this little cottage to anybody who's in need of a relaxing holiday away from the crowds.

A fantastic place and holiday.

5 of 5
The 9 of us had a marvelous holiday and Markus and Sandra were very welcoming. The house, hot tub, sauna and grounds were fantastic and were everything we had hoped for. This is definitely a place we would go back to and somewhere that we would recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all in the woods of Southern Sweden.
