The South Coast of Sri Lanka is a surfing, scuba diving and swimming paradise, with the warm seas providing comfortable swimming conditions, plentiful marine life and excellent surfing conditions in places. In fact, the Unawatuna Reef on the South Coast of Sri Lanka is home to more species of marine animal that the Great Barrier Reef, and visibility is second to none.

Inland, the South Coast of Sri Lanka is home to the two most important national parks on the island. The Yala West National Park is the ideal place for safaris on foot, letting you see the true nature of the island first hand. You can even stay in a tree-top house in the park for an eco-friendly stay. Situated on the edge of the park is Sri Lanka’ holiest temple, the Kataragama, a Hindu Temple, which is a fantastic place to visit in July and August during the full moon when the Perahera Festival takes place.

Amazing property for a memorable holiday

5 of 5
The Weligama Boathouse truly gave us such a memorable holiday. Travelling with kids is not always easy, yet this place felt like home instantly thanks to its decor, facilities, staff and personal touches like board games, books etc. Right on the beach, we woke up everyday to go surfing, would come back to some beautifully cooked meals and for anything else, we were just a short stroll away from Weligama town. I would highly recommend this place for those kind of holidays where you'd like to zone out and relax. We can't wait to get back sometime. Thanks Michelle, Nishani, Thushara, Sunny and James. x

The grounds are what made this villa so special. It's so hard to read a book though.. as there are eyes everywhere... every tree there's a monkey looking at you - across the lawn land monitors skittle around... water monitors by the river edge saunter to the water after basking in the trees the birds wow so colourful. There were snakes palm squirrels and geckos too. The villa was very nice .. the rooms all large and well looked after. Internet and English tv was challenging as the monkeys kept damaging the lines lol but we didn't need it. The staff were lovely very helpful. Arranged all local trips and safaris at a fraction of the price quoted on line! Thanks for such a memorable holiday. Anna Dave Jake & Zoe
