Perfect Holiday Apartment in a Fabulous Location

We came across the listing for this apartment on a search of the overall Rias Baixas area, not specifically targeting Illa de Arousa for our break. We are so glad that we did. It looks lovely in the photos, and it seems well-equipped from the description, so we went with fairly high expectations. I am glad to say our expectations were thoroughly surpassed! We found the apartment in lovely clean condition. It is very nicely decorated and has everything one could ask for in a holiday apartment: Oven and hob; large fridge-freezer; washer/dryer; big TV with cable, including on-demand services; wifi. The description states there is parking, which we assumed from looking at Streetview must have been on street. In fact there is a space in a secure underground parking garage. If you are coming with more than one vehicle then you won't have any problem getting a space in front of the block in our experience. We had our 2 kids aged 3 and 5 with us and they absolutely loved the place. As you will see from the picture and description, there is a pool, football/basketball court, and padel court. These are all exclusively for the use of residents. There is also a public childens playground immediately adjacent to the block, with a small beach bar next to that. There's a larger, slightly more formal bar/restaurant, Pescador, just a few metres further away, which we can recommend. There are lovely little beaches just a few metres to the east and to the north of the block. These have shower facilities but no loungers, parasols, pedaloes etc. For those kind of facilities you will need to visit some of the many other beaches around the island. We especially liked those at Area de Secada in the north, but you are really spoilt for choice here. Be aware that the "chiringuitos", the little bar/restaurant shacks at the beaches, don't usually do food for those just walking up. You have to order in advance. Just pay them a visit when you arrive at the beach, or as soon as they open, order your food and book a time. Then you just rock up at the appointed time and order your drink. Your food will arrive shortly after. All very civilised but can lead to empty-bellied disappointment to the uninitiated. Thank you so much to the owners of this apartment who met us there, showed us how everything worked, cheered up our grumpy and tired (ffrom the flight) children, and got up extra early to see us before we got our early flight home - we will hopefully be back soon!

Really lucky choice for August beach holiday

Had never visited the Galician Rias - Vilanova is a fairly basic but very friendly town centred around a busy fishing port. Great seafood, good safe beaches and fantastic views and sunsets. (Maybe we were lucky with the sunsets as we stayed during a heatwave and the skies can be a bit grey apparently). This apartment is brilliant- for its views over the ria, its seaside design of fittings and furnishings, its cleanliness and the friendliness of the host - Maria. The bed is good (also two full size bunk beds), the kitchen well-equipped and there's easy parking outside or in the garage below. Easy to get to Santiago, Pontevedra and neighbouring Vilagarcia (the nearest railway station on the main Vigo/A Coruna line). There are three beach bars on the As Sinas beach nearby - one does good seafood - and the town (7-10 minutes walk) has good fish restaurants and many friendly bars delivering different tapas with each drink. It's an apartment for a very relaxing holiday. We felt lucky to have stayed there.
