Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in Valdes, Spain your home away from home

Valdes self-catering catering accommodation is set in Asturias, a region of Spain that remains largely unfrequented by tourists. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t plenty to see and do here; the country and coastal landscapes are truly inspiring. In fact there’s 350 kilometres of coast to discover, with all varieties of beaches, cliffs and rock outcrops to explore. The town is right on waterfront, with a backdrop of misty green hills.

Things to do in Valdes, Spain

Self-catering villas in Valdes are found in a municipality on the scenic Atlantic coast. It’s a great destination for a beach holiday in summer – many of the beaches nearby are secluded, and can usually only be reached along short walking trails. Quintana is one such beach, a short way from self-catering apartments in Valdes. Also notable is Cueva Beach, a pristine blue flag bay, offering a mixture of sand and pebbles, and set within a protected area.

Luarca is a particularly attractive and sits next door to holiday accommodation in Valdes – this charming fishing village boasts a quaint old harbour with an old-town that features some historic buildings.

If you’d like to get a closer look at the picturesque natural scenery a little way inland from Valdes villas, then you could make the short trip to the Salmonero River. This is in fact a popular location for fishers and anglers, as a re many of the major rivers in Asturias. It’s also typical of the breathtaking landscapes to be discovered across the region around self-catering cottages in Valdes, and ideal for walks, bike rides or even horseback riding.

Places to visit on holiday in Valdes, Spain

Valdes self-catering villas are found in a region with abundant natural beauty, so it might be worth heading to one of the natural parks in Asturias, like Somiedo towards the south, or embarking one of the many marked walking routes, either along the coast or inland. Adventure sports are also popular here – during your stay at a self-catering apartment in Valdes you could try canoeing and climbing, or even more unusual pursuits such as quad-biking or canyoning.

Weather in Valdes, Spain

At a Valdes holiday rental you’ll be able to expect slightly cooler conditions, and distinctly un-Spanish weather. Asturias gets more annual rain than other Spanish Autonomous Communities, and so a holiday here might suit anyone who finds temperatures on the costas a little too much. At any rate, there is plenty of beach weather here in mid-summer.

Cheap Flights to Valdes, Spain

The closest airport to self-catering apartments in Valdes is Asturias Airport, just outside Castrillon (OVD), about a 40-minute drive to the east. easyJet has a regular schedule of flights between London-Stansted (STN) and Asturias, and there are also connections to a host of cities across Europe.

Superb property and location

5 of 5
It's a very atmospheric cottage, quite tall and thin. It was very clean and decently equipped. 2nd floor bathroom next to the two main bedrooms has a bath and shower, ground floor has a neat extra shower, both very good and powerful. The outside area is small but very nice with a great view over Luarca, we cooked and ate out there several times. The top bedroom has limited height, you can sit but not stand but it was no problem for our (quite tall) 14yr old daughter. The two bedrooms on the second floor are normal height. The property location couldn't be better, very close to the centre of Luarca but in a quiet location. There's a fair amount of traffic going up the small road from time to time but not an issue. It wouldn't suit people with mobility issues as access is up quite a steep hill and the property has lots of stairs. Luarca itself is not hugely commercial but lively particularly as we were luckily there for the San Timoteo festival which was amazing. Mostly Spanish people on holiday here. Communication from the owner was excellent. We missed going to the private Jardines de La Font Baxa as we left it to the last day and you have to book - worth going to the tourist office for this. We loved this house.
