Amazing house in brilliant location. Recommended!

Thanks to Rob and Evie for a wonderful holiday. The house is an amazing structure and the views are breathtaking. The whole area is stunning and the hosts provide a list of tips of places to visit for wild swimming or cycling. We spent the week visiting different river gorges, waterfalls and canyons for unforgettable swimming experiences with plenty of wildlife spotting along the way. The house is directly next to the Via Verde cycle route which is created from a disused railway, so is completely traffic free and - beat this! - slopes very gradually down hill all the way (if you pick the most sensible direction of course!). Local cycle hire companies kit you up then pick up you at the end of the day and drive you back home. Perfect for families. Montsport in Horta were fantastic and we did this day out twice. The world doesn't seem to have discovered this part of Spain yet, though there were in the know Spanish tourists around we met only one other foreigner. The place was wonderfully quiet and completely fit the bill for what we were looking for - a holiday to relax and swim but not on crowded summer beaches. Highly recommended!

Excellent - quiet, relaxing retreat.

What a brilliant find this flat was! We had a great time. A quiet, comfortable place to relax after a day exploring Aragon. For a stay in a not too well-travelled area of Spain it was perfect. A well set-out flat with plenty of space and all the amenities you need– a well-equipped new kitchen, Wi-fi, a big tele, a good bathroom with an excellent shower, a washing machine. There was even a roof terrace to sit on and watch the sun go down whilst enjoying a glass of cava! Everything was clean and well maintained and there was a washing machine too. A table tennis table in the entrance hall, which we couldn’t walk past without playing a game! Alcaniz is a pretty and friendly town with a good selection of bars, restaurants (Bodega and the Cafeteria were two of our favourites), shops and supermarkets. You can sit in the old square, sipping a beer and enjoy watching the storks sitting on top of the cathedral and making their ‘tocking’ noise. Nearby is the Embalse de Estanca, a lake which has a small and pleasant beach, quiet and with a nice café/restaurant alongside – perfect for a swim and relax. Canoes and pedaloes can be hired there too. It doesn’t take long to drive to other villages to enjoy the fabulous buildings and views. Fresneda, Calaceite, Valderobles and Moreno (near a decent set of caves) were all beautiful and the bigger (Valancian) walled town of Morella, just a half hour down the road, had a spectacular castle and church. Highly recommended!
