Wonderful stay at Zahara De Los Atlanterra! Apartment as described and exceptionally clean with incredible views of the beach and sunset, although slightly further out of Zahara De Los Atunes than anticipated.
Beach is incredible and although it gets busy it never got too overcrowded, best in the morning & before 2pm and then late afternoon, the pool is very clean and gardens well maintained!
We self catered for breakfast and lunch (although a visit to the Churros van at the top of the road is a must). Top tip is to do a weekly essentials shop at Lidl in Barbate when you arrive (so cheap).
We weren't too taken with the restaurants in the vicinity (this is a personal view) so we spent most evenings in Zahara De Los Atunes (short drive away, best to park on the outskirts near the new hotel under construction and walk in). This is a vibrant little town with lots of restaurants and many gorgeous and tempting shops. Be prepared to dine like an Andalusian, we rarely ordered before 10pm, restaurants can get quite busy although we always found somewhere lovely to eat. The local cuisine is wonderful, especially the fish dishes.
Short drive away is Vejer de la Frontera a beautiful Pueblo Blanco, cool and whitewashed and easy to explore with fantastic views. We'd recommend Corredera 55, serving up reasonably priced innovative cuisine and amazing hospitality.
The suggested walk along the coast to the lighthouse at Faro de Camarinal is worth doing, instructions can be found in the apartment. Although we selected to walk along the beach at German Beach at Playa de los Alemanes instead of the road to enjoy a cool dip in the sea.
Overall a perfect and incredibly relaxing week away in authentic Spain and we will be back very soon as we absolutely loved the area and are already missing it.
Andalusian hospitality is wonderful. Not too much English spoken in the area and Andalusian Spanish is very different to Castilian but we liked that, especially as it challenged our daughter who's of to study Spanish at Uni.
Only feedback is that we had a minor medical issue and could not find any info in the apartment re pharmacies/medical centers which was needed. Fans in the bedrooms were a bit ineffective and we had a problem with the font door key which resulted in a near lock out. However Stan the contact based in the area was so very helpful and all was sorted and taken note of.
Many thanks for a wonderful stay!
