Make a holiday rental home or villa in Sedella, Spain your home away from home

Situated 32km inland from the coastal resort of Torre del Mar, Sedella is a small town within the Malaga province, which attracts a small section of visitors who are looking for a more traditional Spanish base for their vacation, but still want to be near to the bulk of the Costa del Sol’s tourist attractions and beaches. With a romantic and picturesque setting up in the mountains, Sedella is a popular destination with young couples and the ideal place to unwind.

Things to do in Sedella, Spain

Being is a slightly isolated position and away from the crowds of the Costa del Sol, Sedella is a great destination for those wishing to spend the majority of their holiday relaxing, but who also want close access to the main attractions if they so desire. For this reason the use of a hire car is recommended, and will also help you to get to your accommodation quicker and easier upon landing. A popular suggestion from previous visitors is to stock up on food supplies along the way, allowing you to spend more time relaxing in your holiday rental accommodation and taking in the panoramic views of this rural haven.

Around the village are basic amenities, such as shops and cafe-bars, so you do not have to travel outside of the area if you do not wish to. Worth a look in the village centre is the Church of San Andres - parts of which date back to the 16th century. The streets of Sedella are narrow, winding and dotted with whitewashed houses – so typical of the Malaga countryside. Those that fancy a spot of exercise can head out into the foothills of the Sierra Almijara and Sierra Tejada mountain ranges, and burn off some of the excess calories that often come with a relaxing holiday.

Places to visit on holiday in Sedella, Spain

If you decide to venture outside of Sedella you will be spoilt for choice as to where to go. The obvious option is to head to the coast, where you can choose from popular tourist resorts such as Torre del Mar (32km), or more secluded spots such as Algarrobo (22km). A visit to Nerja (41km), and in particular its 20,000 year-old caves, is another must when visiting this part of Spain.

Weather in Sedella, Spain

Many visitors head to Sedella between May and September, when temperatures range from 22C – 32C, and the weather is largely dry. Outside of these months tourist numbers drop, but a holiday can still be enjoyed, as mild temperatures (10C upwards) and sunny days are still common.

Flights to Sedella, Spain

Though there are smaller airports that are nearer, the closest airport to Sedella that receives regular flights from the UK is Malaga Airport (AGP), 75km away. Granada Airport (GRX, 99km) is another option, with Ryanair operating routes here from London Stansted, Liverpool and East Midlands.

Highly recommended lovely home with beautiful views

5 of 5
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday, in a lovely home with stunning views. The villia is equipped with every you need for an enjoyable stay, including a good nights sleep on very comfortable beds. The owners were very helpful with great communication and detailed information. And although there was a wee problem, it resolved very quickly, even to the point of offering to fly out to meet us. Nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend if your wanting to relax in a peaceful stunning area of Spain

Home from home

5 of 5
This is my third stay in Sharon's gorgeous cortijo and each time I arrive, it feels like coming home. The cottage is very well equipped for summer or winter (I've stayed in August and December). This time we didn't have a car, so planned our trips - walking down into Frigiliana takes about 20 minutes; walking back up takes twice as long so we simply budgeted for taxis for that! During the festival the taxi fare almost doubles to 15 euros, but drops again to 8 the following day. One evening our taxi was so well air-conditioned that we welcomed the blast of heat when we opened the car door on arrival. Ants and mosquitoes were both more evident this summer than previously, and after my initial fascination with the different kinds of ants (the big ones come out at night...), I soon got tired of them, especially after finding them in my bread - it pays to keep all food in the fridge. The provision of anti-mosquito night wall plugs was a welcome find, as was the ant killer under the sink. But not even the bugs could dent my delight with the place. The terrace is perfect for private sunbathing, or watching the fireworks on the final night of the festival, and the little gazebo at the bottom of the steps is a rewarding spot for reflection and writing. I love this place, and warmly recommend it. It's comfortable, quirky and has everything you need. Just bring a sense of adventure (for dealing with the bugs).
