Sant Pol de Mar is a small town located 51km east along the coast from Barcelona, in between Canet de Mar and Calella. A combination of well-respected traditions, unspoilt scenery and top gastronomy have made Sant Pol de Mar a favourite with the discerning tourist, who wants to spend part of their holiday in Barcelona, but prefers to locate themselves away from the hustle and bustle of the city and as close as possible to the beach.

Things to do in Sant Pol de Mar, Spain

Within the village are a decent selection of amenities, including traditional shops, small shops bars and other local businesses. Self-caterers can also head into the neighbouring villages, which have slightly more in terms of selection, or opt to eat out in one of the excellent restaurants around the area. By using the delicious and fresh local produce these restaurants can produce meals of a top standard, with the Michelin star-winning Sant Pau eatery a particular favourite of locals and tourists alike.

Just a short walk from Sant Pol de Mar is the Parc Natural de Montnegre-Corredor, which covers around 15,000 hectares of valleys and mountains. A number of activities can be enjoyed within the park’s boundaries, including horse riding, adventure sports and some excellent long-distance hiking and walking trials.

Neighbouring villages Canet de Mar and Calella are both worthy of a visit, and require either a five minute bus journey or a 45 minute walk along the beachfront to get there. Canet de Mar has the most of the trio in terms of tourist facilities, whilst Calella has one of the best beaches in the region, being consistently awarded the coveted EU Blue Flag status.

Places to visit on holiday in Sant Pol de Mar, Spain

A visit to Barcelona is a must during any stay in Sant Pol del Mar, and the famous city can be reached in well under an hour on the RENFE railway line. In addition to this there are many other smaller towns and villages worthy of a day trip, with two of the most interesting being young and vibrant Lloret de Mar (29km) and its smaller, more laid-back neighbour Tossa de Mar (40km).

Outside of this the region has something of an irregular climate, however, meaning one winter can be extremely wet, whilst another can see hardly any rain at all. Amazing location, with the sea and mountain's view, lots of shops around. An apartment itself very cosy, with all amenities you need, huge terrace with a bbq. The owner Sanchez is very helpful and super nice. Highly recommended.
