Sa Cabaneta is a rapidly expanding town located roughly 16 kilometres from Majorca’s capital, Palma. The region has become an increasingly popular holiday destination in recent year, owing to the fact that Sa Cabaneta holiday villas put many of the island’s great attractions directly at your doorstep. This consequently makes Sa Cabaneta a great place for families or couples, who simply want to relax and enjoy Majorca at their own pace. Things to do in Sa Cabaneta

Although Sa Cabaneta is a relatively small community, its proximity to Palma de Majorca means that you’ll never be at a loss for things to see and do. The fact that the area is serviced by the island’s rather sparse public transport system also adds to Sa Cabaneta’s allure, as you can reach many of the island’s attractions without the use of a hire car or shuttle bus.

-Going to the beach is an absolute must in Majorca, as the coastal scenery is like something on a picture postcard. Although Sa Cabaneta holiday villas are not located directly on the coast, numerous great beaches such as Platja de Palma and Cala Mayor beach lie within a 20 kilometre radius of the township. Once at the seaside you may choose to swim, snorkel, go on a diving trip, go sailing, rent a paddle boat, or simply work on your tan.

-The museums in Palma de Majorca make for a great day trip from your Sa Cabaneta, especially if you’re interested in art or history. For art lovers the Museum Fundación Juan March boasts a permanent collection, which contains works from artists such as Pablo Picaso and Salvador Dahli, whilst the Palau March Museum offers superb artworks in addition to old books, religious manuscripts and sculptures. History buffs in comparison, may enjoy the Ethnological Museum, which exhibits the history of Majorca and its inhabitants.

-Katmandu Park located in Magaluf, roughly 30 kilometres from most holiday accommodation in Sa Cabaneta is a fun day out for the whole family. The park includes: an amazing 4D cinema; a house of optical illusions; “The asylum”, which promises a heart stopping paranormal experience; laser tag Wild West style; and “Expedition Golf”, which is minigolf with an exciting twist. It is however, a good idea to check the opening hours before visiting the park, as they tend to change depending on the season, with the park closed completely between November and February.

-The Casino de Majorca is the only casino on the island, and is a great night out for those who like to live it up. Not only can you join a poker tournament, or risk it all on roulette, but you can also relax in the top notch cocktail bar, or enjoy some great Mediterranean cuisine in the restaurant; before returning to your Sa Cabaneta holiday villa, hopefully a little richer!

-The architecture in some areas of Majorca is absolutely breathtaking, and the San Marcial church is quite an impressive structure for those who would like to sightsee close to Sa Cabaneta. If you don’t mind travelling a little further afield however, the Fundacio La Caixa and the Edifici Casasayas buildings in Palma de Majorca both boast brilliantly beautiful facades.

The weather in Sa Cabaneta

The weather in Sa Cabaneta is fairly mild, with warm dry summers and cool damp winters being the norm. The peak tourist season and best time to visit the island is generally between May and October, although the beaches can get rather crowded around the larger tourist centres. If you’re more interested in a tranquil getaway, as well as saving a little money on your Sa Cabaneta holiday home, you may like to consider travelling outside of peak season.

Getting to Sa Cabaneta

As Sa Cabaneta is only located a small distance from the international airport in Palma de Majorca, it is extremely easy to reach via shuttle bus, taxi or hire car. If you’re feeling adventurous however, you may choose to utilise the Majorcan public transportation system, which will require catching a train followed by a bus in order to reach your Sa Cabaneta holiday chalet.

My first trip to Palma and it is a beautiful city. The apartment location is brilliant in the heart of the old town and close to beaches, transport links and shopping centres, you feel the buzz of the city as soon as you walk out of the door, but once in the apartment it is quiet and peaceful. It was very tastefully decorated, clean and bright with everything you need for living for a short or longer stay. Merce and Victoria, the owners, were very friendly and helpful. Merce met me at Plaza de Cort to show me the apartment, she also pointed out necessary things on a city map like supermarkets, bus links, great beaches, tapas bars which was really helpful. Palma is a great base to see the rest of the island if you don't want to hire a car, I took the train to Soller and bus trips to Illetas beach and also to visit friends elsewhere on the island. I will definitely come back - great city.
