Make A Holiday Rental House in Ripoll, Spain, Your Home Away from Home

Set in a green valley and flanked by two rivers is the charming town of Ripoll. Sometimes said to be the cradle of Catalonia, Spain, the buildings here have a Romanesque feel, and the famous Cathedral is a noteworthy attribute. Forget high rise hotels here – self catering accommodation in Ripoll is the way to go, with the choice of houses or apartments. Fully furnished and equipped to make you feel at home right away, you will soon feel a part of the community, and will quickly enter the habit of relaxing in the main square in the afternoon, soaking up the atmosphere and relaxed pace of life.

Things to Do on Holiday in Ripoll, Spain

As the town is quite traditional and rural, the amount of activities on offer is perhaps less than those found at major tourist spots. That said, there is still much to do, especially if you love the great outdoors. Hiking and cycling are two popular activities here, and you should ask at the tourist information office for El Nostre Entom brochure which has maps and details of local trails. If you are on holiday in Ripoll during the winter, then skiing is available higher up in the mountains. During the summer, it will take you an hour to get to the coast, where you will be able to swim, snorkel and kayak to your heart’s content.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Ripoll, Spain

Visiting other parts of Catalonia is likely to be on the agenda during your holiday in Ripoll. If the views of snow-capped mountains are not enough for you, then perhaps a drive up into the Pyrenees or to one of the national parks might appeal. If you have access to a car (and it is recommended), then a day trip to Figueres is in order to see the impressive Dali museum is a must, as is a day trip to the historic city of Gerona. Both have the perfect blend of architecture and charm which makes them so memorable.

Weather in Ripoll, Spain

This area of Spain enjoys a Mediterranean climate, although being located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, it can be cooler here. In fact, many Spanish holidaymakers take self catering accommodation in Ripoll during the summer to escape the pressing heat experienced in other parts of Spain. During the summer months, the temperatures can touch 30 degrees Celsius, but expect 25 degrees to be the norm. Rainfall is around 22 inches per year. The winters are much cooler, and day time temperatures of 11 degrees Celsius still make it warmer than back in the UK.

Travel to Ripoll, Spain

Travellers embarking on a holiday in Ripoll will most likely start their adventure at Girona Airport (GRO). Budget airline Ryanair has transformed this once quiet portal into a busy one, catering for nearly 5 million passengers a year. The UK enjoys many connections, with London Luton (LTN) and Manchester (MAN) being just two amongst many. If you prefer to fly with a national carrier such as British Airways, then your best option is to use Barcelona Airport (BCN), although this is another 100km farther away.

Everything we needed!

Beautiful area, spacy appartment, great facilities and clean. There is a big supermarket very nearby and it is close to the nicest volcano located inside the city.
