Make a holiday cottage in Ribera de Ebro your home away from home

Holiday cottages in Ribera de Ebro are set amid breathtaking upland scenery where you’ll find vineyards, olive groves and the beautiful River Ebro not far from its delta. Perfect for large groups of friends and families, Ribera de Ebro cottages are rural in character, but designed to offer indulgence, with pools, private gardens and useful conveniences like Internet access. Visiting a holiday home in Ribera de Ebro you’ll have a wealth of options for days out, depending on your taste. Close by are picturesque hilltop villages, wineries, scenic natural parks and world-class family attractions, not to mention the river itself, which is great for walks and water sports.

Things to do

-Outdoor recreation. This location, on the banks of the wide River Ebro, is ideal for water-based activities like kayaking and angling. Guided fishing trips are also available here. The river valley is nestled between mountain ranges like Els Ports, where you’ll be able to take scenic walks and visit beautiful medieval hermitages and monasteries.

-Local heritage. One of the major historic landmarks in the area is the 11th Century Miravet Castle, which sits atop a cliff and was originally a Moorish fortress. The keep here is mostly intact, and from the ramparts you can take in wonderful views of the green landscape of the Ebro River. This is also an important wine-growing region, with terraced vineyards hugging the lower slopes of the mountains and a host of wineries to visit in nearby Priorat.

-Family fun. No more than 45 minutes away, Port Aventura is Spain’s premier theme park, with a host of state-of-the-art white-knuckle rides and choreographed shows. There’s also a water park, considered one of the best in the world – Costa Caribe has a network of pools and numerous flumes, from gentle to high-speed.

-Tarragona. This city holds UNESCO World Heritage status for its impressive Roman heritage. Tarragona was once Spain’s most important Roman stronghold, and clues to this role can be found across this town. There’s an impressive amphitheatre, defensive walls, an aqueduct, quarry and forum here, as well as the National Archaeology Museum providing extra artefacts and detail.

-Coast. The Mediterranean is only half an hour away, and ideal if you’d like some relaxing beach time. One of the closest resorts is Salou, which is a lively, modern destination blessed with a long and wide sandy beach. Just down from there are other gorgeous beaches at Montroig, Miami Platja, Hospitalet and Almadreva.

Perfect place for fishing, walking and bird watching.

4 of 5
Great view from the balcony of the top floor apartment, enjoyed the fishing and the trips we made to places of interest such as Miravet, Mequinenza and Tarragona. Our room was much as expected, not 5 star but perfect for a fishing holiday, it had what we needed. The town itself was typical of the area but unfortunately it didn't have a restaurant we found to our liking, the bars were fine but we found eating out a problem. Mora d'Ebre doesn't pretends to be a tourist area and we went for the fishing so in regard to eating out we can't really complain. Keith was friendly and always on hand to give advice, shame it didn't help my fishing - I'll need to improve if I make the trip again! Enjoyed our week, but it would have been better had we found a couple of decent restaurants.

Possibly the most beautiful place I have stayed

5 of 5
This is a truely special place. It has an atmosphere that is both calming and exciting because everyday you wake up to the most stunning views and come the evening dazzling sunsets. Sitting poolside you look across the mountains and watch the swallows dive into the water-it is really magic! The casita is surrounded by outcrops of wildflowers and fauna that are bursting with colour. If you can book this place I would! I'll be returning in 2017 for sure.
