The location was absolutely perfect for us, equi-distance from the Ebro delta and the Natural Parks which we wanted to explore. The setting was peaceful with no immediate neighbours and nicely set away from the road. When we weren't out exploring we spent most of our time on the covered terrace to the rear which was an absolutely essential addition to the property. A bit of a shame the owner couldn't have made it level though! Insect screens had been put in the two bedroom windows which was much appreciated. It would be nice if the property had them in all windows as the mozzies and flies can be a problem. Although the bathroom is tiny, the shower is a great size! However, the showerhead needs to be replaced as the seal seems to have gone. But that's a detail. We understand the settee is being replaced which is good news! The owner is very welcoming and accommodating and we would stay here again.

  • Fabulous, tranquil haven in a beautiful setting

We spent a wonderful week in this gorgeous Spanish villa - lovingly decorated by Maria and Mateo who were perfect hosts. Villa Eden is huge and spotlessly clean with two superb private terraces overlooking a large pond and a large garden/field plus enclosed area by the pool. There is another smaller cottage next to it but you are not overlooked at all (there was no-one occupying it while we were there). The shared pool looked beautiful but sadly was being cleaned and was empty, which disappointed my son as this was one of the reasons we had chosen the villa. However, it was early in the season and the weather was not great so even if it had been full it would have been far to cold to swim in! However, Maria and Mateo did compensate us for this by treating us to lunch one day which was really kind of them as the weather was beyond their control! They have 4 dogs - two of whom are quite large - but they are all completely soppy and very friendly and kept my son and I entertained with their antics! The birdlife was wonderful here - highlights were the swallows, kingfisher, black kites, night herron and hoopoo - all in the garden. Miravet itself is beautiful - especially the old part along the river. Don't miss the bakers (Forn de pa Vives), the castle, the pottery museum at Ceramiques Ferran (opposite the property) and the pas de barca (ferry). Further afield we explored the mountains, visited the Delta L'Ebre and visited the mountain top village of Siurana where we had a lovely lunch at Restaurant La Serra in Cornudella de Montsant (the village below) - great food, English owner and very friendly, English speaking staff - it is on the edge of the village behind the fire station. They produce their own olive oil and wine which are delicious. We also went to Barcelona for the day by train from Mora La Nova which was very easy - 2h 15 minutes, 12 euros each way - not many trains though! Highly recommend a visit to Barelona - lovely city. All in all a wonderful week exploring Catalonia and we would love to return to this little haven - maybe a bit later in the year when the weather is warmer!
