Make a holiday apartment in Playa del Postiguet your home away from home

At a holiday apartment in Playa del Postiguet you’ll be able to combine a city break with a beach holiday – HomeAway has a great choice of rentals here, at the beating heart of Alicante but overlooking the Mediterranean. All of the city’s landmarks, shopping and culture is close by, not least the 9th Century Castle of Santa Barbara, which rises majestically atop a cliff in the background. Holiday homes in Playa del Postiguet are either moments from the beach or directly on the seafront – with balconies and terraces at Playa del Postiguet apartments you can truly savour the glorious views, and handy comforts like wi-fi and air-conditioning will ensure a hassle-free holiday.

Things to do

-Beaches. Playa del Postiguet is Alicante’s main city beach and is practically outside your front door. It’s a white sandy beach backed by an esplanade, which is lit at night. A few minutes by car to the east is Playa de San Juan, regarded as one of the best beaches in the country – it’s a broad, seven-kilometre-long stretch of white sand.

-Culture. From the beach at Postiguet you’ll find the most convenient way to reach the monumental Castle of Santa Barbara, which dates to Moorish times but was updated in Renaissance times. It’s so high up that you need to catch a lift to get into it from ground level. There are also two great art museums in Alicante – Gravina Museum of Fine Arts, and the Asegura Museum of Modern Art, which has works by Braque, Miró, Gris and Picasso.

-Golf. Alicante is at the heart of one of Europe’s best-rated golf destinations, and you won’t have to travel far to get to a top course. The Alicante Club and El Platío are especially close, found within the city itself – the former’s a prestigious 18-hole course designed by Severiano Ballesteros, while the latter is a more casual and affordable “pay and play” option.

-Attractions. If you’re on a family holiday with children, then Benidorm, a few kilometres up the coast is a fantastic place to spend a day. It has attractions like Terra Mitica, a large theme park with loads of rides and amusements, all based around ancient history and mythology. In summer the water park Aqualandia is a must, featuring slides, rapids and pools – just next door is Mundomar, a wildlife attraction with lots of shows and demonstrations.

-Shopping. Central markets are a quintessentially Spanish experience, and Alicante’s is just a couple of minutes from Playa del Postiguet – you can buy all kinds of fresh food here, as well as local products like Muscat and preserves. The Alicante province is also known for its leather goods – and the old-town has a number of artisan shops selling bags, shoes and other items. A range of fashion stores can be found at the Ocean Plaza mall, a few minutes on foot.

Weather in Playa del Postiguet

Alicante has a big reputation for its weather, which is sunny for much of the year. Summers last for about six months, and although there’s lots of warm weather, you’ll find it never gets uncomfortable on holiday at a Playa del Postiguet apartment. May is usually when temperatures are first warm enough to spend days at the beach, and it just gets hotter, peaking in the 30s around July and August. There isn’t much rain at any time of year in this part of Spain, and most of it falls in late summer and winter. A typical day in winter is clear and mild, with highs of around 16 degrees.

Travel to Playa del Postiguet

If you’re flying to get to a holiday rental in Playa del Postiguet then Alicante has an international airport – it’s one of Spain’s largest, and has a host of connections to Britain during the summer. Most of these are via seasonal charters or budget airlines. You can get the Subús Alcoyana bus from the airport to central Alicante. If you’re driving then it’s no more than a few minutes on the A-70, A-31 and then the N-332 next to Alicante’s waterfront. Alicante also has a citywide tram network, with a line to the airport in the pipeline.

Perfect holiday

5 of 5
We all had an amazing holiday at Casa Marron. The villa is equipped with everything we needed and ideally situated close to bars, restaurants and a small shop.

Lovely family villa in a quiet location with a very big pool

5 of 5
We were a family of 8 consisting of grandparents, our children and grandchildren. We used all bedrooms and appreciated the number of bathrooms and en suites. The beds were very comfortable and the linen and towels were good quality. There were lovely thick black beach towels to use at the pool. Perhaps that should be mentioned in the description to save people bringing them. There is a good BBQ on the terrace which we made use of. It did state secure parking but the vehicle entrance was chained and parking was on the street. However the area was very quiet and we felt quite happy leaving the cars on the road. Fantastic swimming pool very large and we all enjoyed using it. There were 10 sun beds but only 2 umbrellas but 4 stands. It is a shame there were not more - 4 would have been good. The gardens were well stocked with lemon and lime trees and bougainvillea and palm trees with shady areas. It was about 15 mins from the nearest beach in El Campello and 20 mins to Alicante. Hot tub is not a hot tub but a jacuzzi bath inside the house. The agents were good and answered our queries immediately. Directions to the supermarket would be good if don't know the area. The nearest is in Mutxamel. We would certainly recommend this villa to our friends and we would certainly book the villa again. We had a great holiday celebrating two special birthdays. Thanks to the owners for allowing us to share your villa.
