Make a holiday rental apartment or villa in Pinos del Valle, Spain your home away from home

Located deep in the lush Lecrin Valley in Andalucia, Pinos del Valle is an ancient village dating back to the 10th century, perched high on the valley side with spectacular views across the mountains. The views across the Beznar Reservoir are stunning from the majority of Pinos del Valle villas, and the two imposing churches complete the scene.

Things to do on holiday to Pinos del Valle, Spain

The village has all the facilities you need to enjoy a wonderful self catering holiday in Spain. Pinos del Valle is split into two parts, one containing the main shops and supermarket, and the other more residential, housing a number of excellent restaurants and several bars, serving excellent local food as well as the beer and wine famous to Andalucia.

The gorge offers some excellent walking along both sides. There are local maps and guides for the best walking in the Lecrin Valley, and there are a huge range of walks to be done. The red and white strips painted onto posts, walls and even trees mark public walking routes if you would prefer to take to the hills without a guide.

There are a couple of fantastic festivals in the village every year. These rural festivals are a huge celebration of local life, where the community all get together for a week of feasts, music, dancing and vast firework displays. The main, week long festival occurs in mid-August, which is probably the best time to visit a self catering Pinos del Valle holiday rental, and the other festival falls in May. If you are looking for a week of peace and quiet though, it is probably best to avoid these two periods!

Mules and donkeys are still a regular part of life in Salernas due to the rough terrain and isolation of the town, and the ancient attractions look completely at home, especially the beautiful 16th century church and bell tower. There are some magnificent walking trails emanating from Salernas, travelling many miles into the Andalucian countryside. Fresh fruit, vegetables and crafts are sold on temporary market stalls in the streets every day of the week.

First class apartment and holiday.

5 of 5
My husband and I visited La Herradura for the first time and the apartment was all we could have wished for, with stunning views from sunrise to sunset. Well equipped with everything we needed, spotlessly clean and very relaxing. The owner was there to greet us when we arrived and was very welcoming and helpful. The town is very Spanish, unspoilt by tourism, which we prefer. The people are very friendly but a little knowledge of Spanish is helpful. All in all, a first class apartment and holiday. We can't wait to return!

Private villa, close to village, with lovely pool

4 of 5
Stayed at this villa for 2 weeks from 20 August. House was well equipped with everything you needed for a comfortable stay - even a nice choice of books and DVDs! Its in a private location but close to Orgiva town, which was convenient, although the drive from the town to the house is a little bit tricky - single lane track with some tight corners. Fine once you get used to it! The gardens and outside space are wonderful, with fruit and olive trees around you. The pool was a really enjoyable area and perfect for the hot summer days! Peter cleaned the pool weekly and its very well maintained. The views of the mountains are incredible. Waking up to those views every morning was a real treat. We were looking for somewhere private and relaxing, and this property gave us just what we were looking for. Peter was great - very friendly and helpful. The only less positive thing for us was we found the double bed uncomfortable and both woke with painful backs. Peter said this was a new mattress, and it clearly was, but we struggled with the comfort level of the bed for a few nights (probably used to a softer mattress) before deciding to use the single beds in the second room instead. They were really comfortable! Jojo the cat was a regular visitor - we're not cat people, though he was quite cute! Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely return.
