If you choose to venture out for the day, when on your Onis holiday, then it is worthwhile spending the day in the mesmerising village of Covadonga, which is approximately 11 miles away from the town. There are several big attractions in Covadonga which attract a lot of visitors each year. This includes the La Santa Cueva, a small holy church that sits in the mouth of a cave. The church is dedicated to King Pelayo who was the leader of the settlers in the village who managed to fend off Moors in the 8th century. There is also the basilica complex in Covadonga which houses the wonderful San Fernando Collegiate Church, which is the second oldest monument after La Santa Cueva. Two 11th century abbots are buried in the cloisters of the church and there are several more monuments to Pelayo including a magnificent statue in the forecourt.

Great house in a great location. Good for the Picos and the beach, a gem

We did not expect such a nice house, the web photos do not do it justice. The owner is very helpful and really keen that you have a good time in the house and the area. She has a lot of local knowledge and keen to share it with you. The little village is very well positioned for the northern Picos but also close enough to make day trips to the beach. All in all very good.

We really enjoyed our stay. Great, central location. Quiet, spotlessly clean apartment which felt safe for our 3 year old son. Ariane replied quickly to any questions we had and made our stay stress-free. Highly recommended!
