Perfectly off the beaten track

We spent 7 nights in La Casa de los Flores and back home now we really miss the little balcony breakfasts with the cuckoo calling close by. But to give the best impression of what it is really like there in late Spring here are my notes from when we arrived. It’s a delight to sit out on the balcony as supper is cooking and watch the swifts swooping overhead. No planes, no trains, no cars – how different from London. We’ve spent an enjoyable afternoon stocking up on fresh fruit and veg in the local supermarket (Claudio’s) – free Spanish lesson thrown in, then off to the ironmongers (yes really!) for some good local red wine. We wanted to get away from it all and we have. Barbara &Martin have created a great OffGrid* bolt-hole for disillusioned townies needing a complete change. Their lovely upstairs flat for two has all we need for one week’s escapism in Galicia (If you need somewhere bigger talk to our lovely hosts about their newly refurbished Galician house 5 kms away) *I think maybe it’s mains electricity but everything else is impeccably Green – wood pellet stove, well water etc. Thank you Barbara & Martin for being the ideal hosts and making sure we got the maximum out of our stay.
