Things to do

-Local history. Masllorenç sits on the southern end Cistercian Route, which is an itinerary that includes three medieval monasteries, in impressive states of preservation. Closest is Santes Creus, which was started in the 1100s. Founded in the same century was Poblet, which is a UNESCO site, in a remarkable location in the foothills of a mountain range. Finally to the north is Vallbona de les Monges, noted for its impressive Romanesque and gothic church.

Masllorenç is on a small plain, with mountains and parkland in three different directions, so you’ll never be stuck if you’d like some outdoor adventure or just the chance to admire the idyllic countryside. Just to the south is the Massis de Bonastre, through which passes the epic GR-92 hiking trail. It’s a route that stretches along much of Mediterranean Catalonia, but you could walk a short, scenic section from Albinayana to Bonastre.

-Attractions. Albinyana also offers one of the Costa Daurada’s top family days out, with Aqualeón, a waterpark featuring slides like the Black Hole, which is more than 100-metres in length. There’s also a safari park here, with zebras, elephants, lions and more, in a 500,000 square-metre area. PortAventura is a comfortable drive to the coast, and is rated among the best theme parks in Europe, with new rides installed almost every year.

-Beaches. A day at the beach is an option, with the nearest resort to be found at Altafulla, little more than 20 kilometres from Masllorenç. The main beach here is beautiful, almost two kilometres long, with a wide expanse of golden sand overlooked by a small lighthouse. A more secluded beach can be found at Canyadell, bookended by rocky outcrops and shrouded by pine forest.

-Tarragona. Another UNESCO site, and a short drive away, this city is known for its impressive ensemble of Roman buildings. You can see the remnants of arches, aqueducts, an amphitheatre, a forum and a circus, and also explore the old city walls, which give you good views of the modern parts of the city. The old town is shaded and atmospheric, at the top of which is a cathedral listed as a national monument.

Beautiful apartment

5 of 5
A great apartment,in a great location! Luisa made sure we were really looked after during our stay at Calafell. Apart from going to Monserratt, we did not need a car. The train station in Calafell is only a short walk away. CALAFELL is a lovely family friendly place to stay for all ages. I highly recommend this beautiful apartment and would definitely stay again. A happy holiday!!

This was a great family property with something to suite all ages

We spent a week in this lovely villa with two adults and five children of varying ages from 6 to teens. There was plenty of space for everyone, activities to be enjoyed around the property and great access to shops and beach, with an easy drive to Barcelona.
