  • A wonderful place for a fantastically fun, interesting and relaxed holiday
    5 of 5

Absolutely fantastic place. We (parents, two teenage daughters) had a wonderfully fun and relaxing holiday. The location and set up of the apartment give wonderful views down the pine-covered hillside to the coast and out across the sea, which you get as soon as you wake up (in the double bedroom), from the main room and from the open balcony where we had meals. The pool and terrace are also fantastic. We also really enjoyed the bigger communal pool (just beyond El Pinar restaurant) - I think that's only open July and August (?) It was a pretty constant 30-32 degrees and sunshine for us (second half of August) but if you open the windows and doors there's a lovely breeze. A bit warm at night but the fans in the rooms helped a lot (though the fan in the twin room could do with replacing). We enjoyed walking down the hill to the lovely little beach at Las Fuentes, and around and up the hill to hermitage. Everything from rent-a- pedalo beaches to quiet, good for snorkeling beaches to walking through unspoilt hills available within easy drives. We also enjoyed trips to Peniscola (nice castle in particular) and Vinaros (big town beaches + nice hermitage a bit inland), and particularly Morella (hour and a half inland, but very much worth it). But mostly, a whole lot of relaxed mooching around and la dolce fa niente (sorry, don't know the Spanish for that!). All seems like a dream now. Fabulous place.

  • Perfect Family Getaway
    5 of 5

We stayed in Alcossebre back in 2002 and loved the relaxed atmosphere and fact that the majority of visitors were Spanish. 16 years later and nothing has changed. The apartment was the perfect base for us (2 adults and 2 children) and had everything that we possibly could have needed. The property was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and a decent size too. The kitchen was equipped with all the we needed for self-catering and the property also had numerous other items to make our stay more pleasant (e.g. beach chairs, parasol, air chillers etc.) The complex comprises about 30 properties which meant it was quiet and peaceful but also had a bit of a buzz and life about it. The walk down to town and the beaches is only about 10 minutes which was ideal for us - close enough to wander down for dinner but far enough away to be away from the bustle. The complex itself is very well maintained and attractive. The apartment was ideal in every way. The fact that the terrace overlooks the pool meant that we could keep an eye on the children without ever having to leave 'home.' The terrace was a lovely place to enjoy family meals and to sit with a good book (and a G&T). There is a small balcony to the rear which was a favourite to catch the morning sun and have a coffee. There is a good sized supermarket a short walk away and this had everything we could possibly need. Although many people fly to Valencia or Castellon we went to Barcelona and drove down (beware the tolls - about 30 euro). An easy drive and a great excuse for a day in Barcelona). Car hire was real bonus for visiting Peniscola, Morella and local quiet beaches (some of which we had to ourselves in mid-August). Overall, a lovely town, great property and wonderful area. Dealings with the owners were hassle free and communication prompt. A perfect getaway!
