Make a holiday rental villa or apartment in Manilva, Spain your home away from home

It has taken a long time for tourists to finally discover this beautiful little piece of ‘real Spain’ on the western Costa del Sol. Completely void of the concrete hotels and large apartment blocks further along the coast, Manilva, Spain, remains inherently Spanish. Like many original settlements along this stretch of coast, Manilva is really split into two sections, the residential pueblo blanca which gleams in the sunshine, just 3km from the beaches where the second part, the tiny fishing port, is located.

Things to do in Manilva, Spain

Manilva has an amazingly long history for such a small settlement. The outstandingly preserved Roman Sulphur baths are testament to the village’s importance in the history of the area, and make for remarkable viewing too. To this day, people still swarm to the baths from many miles to relax in the white sulphur rich waters. The village church is a wonderfully understated 18th century building, and British tourists may be surprised by the abundance of English names in the adjoined cemetery.

The beach is just 3km from the centre of Manilva, offering miles of unspoilt, golden sands on which to relax. La Cala de la Sardina stretches for over 7km, and is one of the most secluded, tranquil and peaceful beaches anywhere on the Costa del Sol. Fishing from Manilva beach is a magnificent activity, especially if you rise early and join the local fishermen. Watching the sun rise over the sea, rod in hand and listening to local tips always starts the day perfectly, and even if you fail to catch anything, the sense of peace and quiet will live with you for a long time.

Completely uninfluenced by the onset of tourism, Manilva is an excellent place in which to sample the finest of Andalucian cuisine. There are a handful of excellent family run restaurants and bars within the village, but no English style pubs or nightclubs. If you would like to experience a party from your Manilva holiday home, the Carnival in February is a magnificent time to enjoy Manilva accommodation. The horse racing at the Grape Harvest Fair, when the first wines of the season is tasted, is a fantastic time to visit the village.

So amazing and special we got engaged here!!:)

We absolutely loved our stay here In Duquesa. Having a large terrace with the option to have a BBQ (which we did most nights), washing machine and all kitchen mod cons made our stay really pleasant. Having 2 bathrooms made getting ready much quicker too and the British TV channels were a bonus!! We had such a wonderful stay here,so perfect in fact that we got engaged in a little bar at The Marina and we absolutely hope that we can have our ceremony at Duquesa in a couple of years time and stay here again :) Thanks so much for everything. If we were to make one slight comment,it would be that it was a shame the outside terrace light didn't work but we understand that a few of the known issues and "fixes" will be happening in the next year or so so it'll be EVEN better. :)

A true Dez Rez with stunning views

We could not have been happier with this beautiful apartment. The complex is great and has three pools right at the bottom of the steps which lead off the balcony. The apartment is very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Mandi is a superstar to deal with. She could not have been nicer when I unfortunately got accute food poisoning and had to stay an extra night. Would highly recommend booking with Mandi. We won't look anywhere else in future.
