Mancor de la Vall is a small community nestled in the foothills of the stunning Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains, near the larger tourist centre of Inca. The village’s semi-remote location serves to make a holiday villa in Mancor de la Vall a much quieter destination than many of Majorca’s other small settlements, and as such, the area is often sidestepped by the rowdy party crowd. Things to do in Mancor de la Vall

Whilst Mancor de la Vall may be off the beaten tourist track, you will find that its central location serves to make it the perfect hub from which to discover Majorca. It is however, recommended when staying in a holiday apartment in Mancor de la Vall to hire a car, as it is the cheapest and most convenient way to see the island’s fantastic sites and attractions.

-The beaches on Majorca are some of the most pristine and beautiful coastal locations on the planet, and are consequently definite “must-sees”. Whilst your Mancor de la Vall holiday home is not located directly at the seaside, a short 50 minute drive through some of Majorca’s most breathtaking countryside will have you relaxing on one of the two brilliant beaches at Soller.

-The Inca Markets are the largest and most well-known markets on the Majorca, and are held every Thursday (between April and October) a mere 7 kilometres from Mancor de la Vall holiday villas and apartments. Whether you’re interested in buying some great quality leather goods; seeing some traditional Majorcan handicrafts, or simply sampling some of the great fresh produce and seafood on offer, this is the place for you.

-The Wild Mushroom Festival held in November, transforms Mancor de la Vall from a quaint quiet village into a bustling hive of activity, as the community celebrates its mouth-watering wild mushrooms. Even if you’re not a big mushroom fan, seeing the various different fungal forms and how they are utilised in traditional Majorcan cuisine is extremely inspiring. If you are a mushroom lover however, you’ll enjoy having all the mushrooms you can eat.

-Torrent de Pareis is a magnificent gorge located approximately 20 kilometres from Mancor de la Vall, and offers what is said to be the most physically demanding hike on the island. The trail begins roughly 18 kilometres north west of Mancor de la Vall holiday homes, in a village called Escorca, before winding through Torrent de Pareis and ending on the coast. Although challenging, this hike provides you with unrivalled views of the Majorcan coastline and is definitely worth the effort.

-The Caves of Campanet located roughly 14 kilometres from Mancor de la Vall, are certainly an interesting way to spend a few hours. Covering approximately 3,200 square metres and reaching depths of up to 50 metres, these stunning natural structures can only be viewed via a guided tour, which takes approximately 40 minutes winding through the maze of enrapturing underground passages.

The weather in Mancor de la Vall

The climate in Mancor de la Vall is that typical of most Mediterranean regions; warm dry summers and cool damp winters. The best time to visit the area is consequently during the summer months, although autumn and spring are also quite popular, and offer milder temperatures. If you choose to chance the weather and travel in winter however, you may find that you can score a great deal on a luxury Mancor de la Vall holiday villa.

Getting to Mancor de la Vall

Mancor de la Vall may be a little out of the way, however getting there is no problem. Whether you choose to rent a car, take a taxi, or utilise a shuttle bus to cover the distance between the international airport in Palma, the trip should take no more than 50 minutes.

A beautifully varied space to stay in.

So many outside spaces to enjoy, the pool being the jewel in the crown. It's underlit at night, and some of our most joyous moments were taking night time dips in it! The barbeque area was great, supplemented by an outdoor gas ring. That was new to us, and we had a great time cooking paella and fabada in it. The villa is within easy reach of Soller and Port Soller. It's on the fabulous MA10, the corniche road connecting all sorts of spectacular places from Andratx in the west to Pollenca in the east. Humi the host is warm, texting happy birthday to my partner when photos of our passports revealed to her that her birthday fell in the week of our stay! All in all, the place is a winner.

Walking/seaside break for a week

We had a very good week in middle of June. Wall to wall sunshine. The flat itself was good value and functional but could do with a wee refurb to freshen it up. So saying it suited us perfectly as we spent most of the day out. We now miss the view from the veranda but not the couple of nights when there was a bit of noise from street, delivery vans for hotel we thought. Maria was efficient and left us a bag of oranges from her parents garden. We were out when she called so did not get to meet her. We would return to this flat in the future-next year hopefully. Thank you Maria.
