When we were driving up in the car we were all so excited but we weren't expecting what we did get. The house was spectacular with all the rooms very well done. It had everything you needed and more for your comfort. The house had floor to ceiling windows which allowed you to see the view all the time (even when you were washing up). There is a lovely combined kitchen and living room (which is the main room) allowing you to have lots of room. All the beds are double beds and really comfortable. The outside was even better there was the glistening pool and the beautiful views. We all enjoyed sitting beside the pool in the sun reading our books with the lovely view right in front of our eyes. The pool was perfect for cooling yourself down, playing games and proper swimming. It was always clean with a very helpful man coming every other day to clean it. The view you had was the Sierra de Gredos mountains. There was also the table tennis table which every one of us enjoyed playing. The heat was lovely and warm and it was perfect to sunbathe in and get a good tan. We were there for twenty one days and it shone every day.
There was a little village near the house where you had everything you needed: several bakeries, patisserie, super market , sweet shop, pharmacy and lots of lovely cafes and restaurant. In the villages every body was so cheerful and they were also so happy to help you. Nearby were also some rock pools which we enjoyed having a swim in and then eating pepas on the rocks, you could go and listen to the water rushing and watch fish swim by.
I would highly recommend this house for people to stay in as you would have an amazing time and great fun. Hans and Viveca are so helpful and friendly and welcomed us so warmly into their home. So anybody who is looking at renting out this house should not hesitate!

We've just got back home after 10 days at this lovely house as a base for birdwatching in the area. I don't think the interior photos really do the house justice - they perhaps make it look more "basic" than it really is.
The location is quiet and private - perfect if that's what you're looking for (which we were), not so perfect if you want to stroll down the road to a cafe. The track to the house is (as others have said) a bit of a challenge. Guy's instructions are very, very clear, so you won't get lost, although I am fairly sure you would not want to arrive for the first time in the dark. While you certainly could drive down the track in a normal car, we were very glad of having our hire car upgraded to an SUV at Madrid airport.
The garden is a delight - azure-winged magpies were flitting around all the time, the constant sound of cuckoos (although we didn't see one), and we saw & heard hoopoes around the garden and along the track to the road. In late afternoon the crickets (and on some evenings, frogs, I think) start up and make the most fabulous sound well into the night.
If I had one whinge it would be that the house felt a bit too "lived in". I've never used OwnersDirect before, so maybe this is par for the course, but the wardrobes and kitchen cupboards left little room for our own clothes and food. If you like staying in houses that feel that the owners have just gone out for the day, I suppose that's perfect, but I'd've liked just a little bit more "distance". If anyone reading this thinks that this is a bit unreasonable of me, please feel free to mentally adjust the review to 5 stars!
Top tip - don't arrive in Cuacos de Yuste expecting to stock up on food there - the shops are very small. Take the time to find the Dia supermarket in Jaraiz and stop there on the way. The main route from Madrid doesn't go directly past the supermarket (so we missed it), but it's only 1km out of your way.
