The Spanish town of Lliria lies in the beautiful province of Valencia, 25km northwest of the city of Valencia. Lliria is known as the city of music because of its prominent orchestra and it’s rich history of music. The small town is located on the River Turia in an area of incredible beauty and is an ideal base from which you can explore rural Spain.

Things to do in Lliria, Spain

The picturesque little town of Lliria is a mixture of whitewashed villas, fascinating architecture and winding cobbled streets. The place is of particular interest to historians, as its home to the ruins of the city of Edeta, an important Iberian city during Roman times. The town itself is full of historic buildings such as the 13th Century La Sangre Church in the town square, the 14th Century Arab bakery as well as San Miguel monastery that sits on a hill overlooking Lliria. There is also an archaeological museum that contains Iberian ceramic collections and artifacts from Roman times. If you rent a Lliria villa you can take a guided tour of the town to learn about its history. Històries Nocturnes are guided tours in the summer that combine sightseeing with theatre performances, local cuisine and music.

If you want to spend time soaking up the Spanish sun the gorgeous Costa Azahar beaches are 20 minutes away from Lliria. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round of golf at El Bosque Golf Club or Oliva Nova Golf Club.

We arrived at the property and were given a wonderful welcome by our hosts. The villa was clean and very well equipped. Lots of essentials which was very pleasing. The best was the private pool.... Jumped in each morning and had a wonderful 5 days with my daughter. Thank you.

Lovely pool and garden with great views

We stayed here for a week in early September. We were unlucky with the weather, with heavy rain and thunderstorms on several days, but the days in between were hot and sunny and we were able to enjoy the pool and terrace. The hosts made us very welcome and the apartment had everything we needed, and stayed nice and cool. The bed was a bit firm but we asked for an extra coverlet and put this underneath the bottom sheet, which made the mattress more comfortable. The location is just a little off a main road, but you don't hear the road, and this means it has good transport links, with several metro stations a short drive away for easy travel into the city. We drove to Cullera, which has a lovely promenade and beach, and great restaurants - 10 Euros for a tasty 4-course lunch including drinks! This is our 2nd trip to Valencia and we will return.
