Illetas and Cas Catala are peaceful seaside suburbs that form part of the greater Palma area in the south of the Spanish island of Majorca (Mallorca). The stunning beach, lovely weather and quiet location on Palma Bay make Illetas and Cas Catala apartments ideal for a romantic holiday or peaceful break.
The beaches in the Illetas – Cas Catala area are quiet, making them the perfect place to soak up the sun or enjoy water sports such as swimming, water skiing and scuba diving. Platja d'Illetas is the main beach. Here you can make use of the reclining chairs and parasols or enjoy a snack at the bar. Platja Cala Comptessa is another small sandy beach that is ideal for swimming. Most Illetast – Cas Catala accommodation has easy access to the beaches.
The neighbourhoods of Illetas and Cas Catala have excellent restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood and other local dishes. There are also supermarkets conveniently located within walking distance of self-catering accommodation in Illetas – Cas Catala.
Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy walks in the beautiful hills that surround the area, or you can hire a bicycle and explore the area, enjoying the fabulous views over Palma Bay.
Palma itself is only 5 minutes away from Illetas – Cas Catala, and there is a regular service to Palma for those without cars. A great way to explore the museums, monuments and other Palma attractions, such as the gothic cathedral, is by taking a tour on an open top bus around the city.
Illetas and Cas Catala are great bases from which you can explore the island of Majorca. You can visit the north of the island and the seaside town of Pollensa in 2 hours, or you ride on the old wooden train from Palma to Soller, through olive groves and lemon orchards.
There are also regular buses to Palma Nova, Santa Ponsa and Magalluf, where you can party the night away on the Ballena strip where there are vibrant clubs and bars to suit a variety of tastes.
The weather in Illetas and Cas Catala is sunny throughout the year. The summers are hot and humid and the winters mild. For sun-lovers, there are at least 5 hours of sun each day. September is the best time to visit as the weather is pleasant and the island is not too crowded with tourists.
BMI offer daily flights from Heathrow airport toPalma de Mallorca, which is only a 15-minute drive from Illetas – Cas Catala villas. Other airlines that offer flights to Majorca from various UK airports include Air Europa, easyJet, Ryanair, and Flybe. From Palma tourists can take a bus to their apartment in Illetas – Cas Catala. You can also hire a car but this is not recommended as there is very little parking space, particularly in Illetas, and the one-way street system makes finding a place to park even more complicated. The public transport on the island of Majorca is excellent.
