Love it, love it love it!

This is our first inland Spain experience and I can honestly say that it has opened my eyes to a completely new way of holidaying. The cave house is fantastically cool if you want to escape the midday sun or if you prefer to bake in the sun as I do then the lovely pool area offers space, scenery and a whole lot of quiet (until the kids descended). We had originally booked for just myself and my husband for a 2 week get away however the place really lends itself to kids and so invited our friend with her 2 out to join us, they had an amazing time. The great thing about Cueva Rambla is that the price you pay is for the duration of your stay in the property, not per person per night like some places which for me is a big plus. The cave sleeps 6 comfortably and has everything you could need. If I could sum it up in a few words I'd say it's cool, cosy and very comfortable. The village of Cortes has everything you need, bars, restaurants, bakery, petrol station, 2 supermarkets and a whole load of fantastically friendly locals. It's small and sleepy but I just love it here. As well as its absolulty fantastic charm it is also perfectly located to enable you to explore the region. We have visited Lake Negratin (which is stunning), Caniles for its weekly market, Guadix for its cathedral, Castle and cave houses and made a return trip to Granada (a place we love) however Baza is the nearest big town and again it offers everything you need. It is also a very pretty town which we hope to return to as soon as we can. The owners of the cave, Barry and Helen provided us with so much helpful information upon booking, directions, things to do and plenty of helpful information about the cave itself. They are also always on hand by e-mail or phone if you need anything further. If you need any assistance whilst at the cave Mario is also on hand to help (not that we needed any) but it's nice to know someone is local if you have any problems. All in all I say with complete honesty that I have thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and our experience of cave living and will certainly be doing it again. Whilst it has been fantastic there is one niggle, the flies, there are a lot of them where ever you go but we got some replant from a store in Baza which worked a treat, there is also a good stash of fly spray in the cave. If you want something unique, different and traditional then give this place a go, I love it and so will you.

Wonderful cave with a beautiful view

The cave was just as described; well-equipped, very clean and a delight to walk into. Everything worked, beds were comfortable and it was a real treat to sleep in a dark and silent place. Cave is easy to find and, very handily, a short walk for the local bar / restaurant. We could virtually guide ourselves back by the light of the stars. Welcoming and friendly hosts and we were particularly taken with the lovely Sparkle and Felix. We did leave them for others to enjoy, though. Would highly recommend as a place to stay. Thank you.
