Make a holiday rental, home, or villa in Costa Tropical your home away from home.

Accommodations in Costa Tropical- Granada

Although not as well known as its neighbour Costa del Sol in the west, the Costa Tropical of Granada is similarly picturesque with beachside holiday rentals but without the crowds. Costa Tropical villas and apartments lie in the heart of old Spain where holiday homes are scattered along small traditional fishing villages with the mountains and seas as its backdrop.

Places to holiday in Costa Tropical- Granada

Málaga- The city is a popular tourist destination and quintessentially more Spanish than any other city on the Costa del Sol. A popular walk in the Paseo del Parque leads up the hill to the Gibralfaro castle offering panoramic views of the city. Also as the site of Pablo Picasso’s birth, art lovers will be delighted by the opening of the new Centre of Contemporary Art and the Málaga Picasso Museum, where visitors can visit the house Picasso grew up in. Also worth seeing is the Moorish Alcazaba, a fortified palace started in the eleventh century and Málaga’s cathedral, which is Renaissance outside, baroque inside. Life in Malaga centres around the Plaza de la Constitucion and the main shopping parade, Marqués de Larios, which leads down towards the port.

La Herradura and Almuñécar- Forming the tourist capital of the Costa Tropical, La Herradura and Almuñécar is a relatively unknown stretch of Spain's southern coastline that belongs to Granada province in Andalucia. It lies between the more populous. Because of its proximity to Africa, La Herradura and Almuñécar have a geography and climate that is unique to any other coastline in southern Spain. Granada holiday homes are located along rugged hills or in steep valleys along the sea. Along the coastline, visitors staying in holiday homes can choose from a large variety of beaches and small coves, including Cabria, El Pozuelo, El Toserillo, Velilla, Puerta del Mar, San Cristobal, de Cotobro, del Muerto, and de la Herradura. Water sports are also popular and offer various courses and equipment hire.

Punta de la Mona- A rocky urbanized area, Punta de la Mona is home to some of Costa Tropical’s most luxurious holiday rentals. The area is home to several small beaches and the Marina del Este, which is centre of nautical life for the area. The port is a popular venue, sprinkled with several restaurants, bars and boutiques. Nearby is the Playa de los Berengueles, the Punta's only beach. Holiday homes in Punta de la Mona vary from large and discrete with private gardens to new apartments or pueblo-style holiday homes. But no matter what, visitors are guaranteed to have breathtaking panoramic views.

Salobreña- The jewel of the Costa Tropical is a white city township clinging with gorgeous beaches, a Moorish castle and surrounded by sugar cane plantations. Only 45 minutes from Granada, Salobrena has an ideal location for holiday home renters hoping to see the entire region. The Moorish castle was built in the 10th century. The Mudejar 16th century church, Iglesia de Nuestra Senora del Rosario is built on top of the old mosque. The town is crowded with bars and restaurants offering anything from seafood to fresh fruits. Salobrena enjoys a colourful cultural scene, with concerts, plays and films all year-round. In the summer, outdoor shows are held in the Arab Castle, the Old Town, and Parque de la Fuente. It also has colourful annual fiestas.

Things to do in Costa Tropical- Granada

While the region doesn’t have the resort-like activities offered in other European cities, visitors staying in Granada’s holiday homes should take advantage of the region’s sandy beaches, beautiful natural areas, and the pleasures of eating and drinking on sidewalk cafés and on the beach.

Water attractions are fun for holiday making adults and kids. Granada has a number of aqua parks, including Aqua Tropic and Aquaola. Boats and ferry rides are also available. They are great, cheap way to see the coast and beautiful landscapes. Also take advantage of the Andalucia (Andalusia) ferry that goes to North Africa.

The nightlife in close by Costa del Sol is as diverse as its landscape, from classy restaurants with romantic views to loud karaoke bars. Casinos, clubs, English pubs, Spanish bars, discos, flamenco shows and more are favourite spots for visitors. Málaga is the Costa del Sol capital, where you can appreciate with more bars per square metre than anywhere else in Europe. For swankier spots, visitors should go to Marbella's Golden Mile, an area glamorized by glitzy restaurants, discos and nightclubs and frequented by many celebrities

High and happy

5 of 5
A lovely, spacious cortijo with everything for ease and comfort. It has a very private and attractive garden and a beautiful pool.We had a brilliant 2 weeks with perfect weather and spent our time by the pool, and walking around the high and magical landscape. We only went out to go to the shops for provisions. Evenings we spent making barbeques, drinking lots of the local wine and star gazing. This is exactly how we like to spend our time on holiday.. Our hosts,Nigel and Louise were great. We would see them early in the day, for pool cleaning, and much warm and humourous conversation, after which they entirely respected our privacy. It was really good to have them close by, as it is an isolated place,,so if anything went wrong we could call on them. We had to do this once when we got lost up in the hills and I fell down a steep slope, and my wife put her hand in a wasps nest! We were promptly rescued and told that we weren't allowed out tomorrow! This was all highly entertaining. We also collectively walked up the mountain and watched the lunar eclipse together. That was magic! The location is beautiful, a valley surrounded on all sides by craggy rock and bush with paths climbing through and across the landscape, and really high with views across to Sierra Nevada. Walking up and out from the cortijo is very steep for 15 minutes, after which it gets easier. Driving up or down again is challenging. Not advisable at night! If you like nature,a bit of the wild, peace, beauty and a bit of keep fit activity, this is a perfect place to stay!
