Make a holiday villa in Estepona your home away from home

At one of the Costa del Sol’s most desirable locations, Estepona holiday villas offer peace and luxury; complemented by a fabulous choice of things to do for visitors both young and old. Accommodation here is modern and laid out especially for families, with special attention paid to facilities and ease of use. Apartments in Estepona are furnished with necessary domestic comforts like air-con, dishwashers and satellite TV, and are further enhanced by manicured gardens and private pools. Holidaying at a villa in Estepona heralds stunning beaches, exciting attractions and a plethora of activities to discover close by.

Things to do

-Beaches: Contributing to Estepona’s fine reputation are the resort’s beaches, two of which have earned Blue Flag awards. El Cristo is tremendous, and couldn’t be better suited to families thanks to its fine golden sand and shallow waters. Facing westwards, this half-crescent bay is unusually sheltered, making the water safe for swimming, paddling and snorkelling. For a bit more bustle, La Rada is a beach fringed by a plethora of restaurants and shops, with activities available for all manner of tourists.

-Watersports: With a world-class marina and superb facilities lining the main beaches, Estepona provides a great choice of water-based fun and adventure. Travellers can charter a sailboat with a skipper for the afternoon, or hire kayaks, dinghies and other vessels. Water-skiing and fishing experiences are also available, and there’s a scuba centre in Estepona with fully qualified instructors, offering dives to reefs, underwater caves and wrecks.

-Golf: The Costa del Sol is almost synonymous with world-class golf, and Estepona has no lack of excellent courses close by. Valderrama is one of the country’s most recognisable names, and has hosted plenty of high-profile tournaments down the years. A little further away is Rio Real, which, as the name suggests, is next to the Real River and commands lovely views of the river and coast. Closest is Estepona’s own course; a little less prestigious, but a fun challenge nonetheless due to its bumpy topography.

-Heritage: While Estepona’s modern tourism infrastructure is second to none, the resort also contains a preserved Old Town that is classically Andalucian. The old quarter begins at the waterfront and boasts narrow cobble-stoned streets and whitewashed houses. Much of the architecture here is Baroque, best represented by the Nuestra Senora de los Remedios church from the 18th century. At the Municipal Museum, meanwhile, guests can discover everything there is to know about the town’s natural and social history, with remnants dating to Phoenician times.

-Cuisine: On the Andalucian coast a perennial favourite is pescaito frito; deep-fried whitebait served with aioli or lemon. Fish and seafood dominate the menus here and are highly recommended for their freshness. Other local dishes include octopus salad and roasted sardines. The Spanish hallmark, gazpacho, comes from Andalucia, and the local variation involves bread, mayonnaise and potatoes.

Weather in Estepona

The climate in this part of Andalucia is subtropical, with a summer that spans at least five months of the year. Visitors arriving at an Estepona holiday rental in July and August will enjoy the hottest conditions, when temperatures exceed 30?C consistently during the daytime. Estepona’s unique situation on the coast, yet shielded by mountains, grants it an interesting microclimate, with more days of sunshine each year than neighbouring resorts. Winters are almost never cold here, with highs of 17?C on a normal day in January.

Travel to Estepona

The largest airport in the region is Malaga (AGP), which is around 50 minutes east of Estepona by road. As one of Spain’s largest and busiest airports there are many routes to this destination from the UK, the majority of which are with budget carriers. Hugging the coastline, the E-15 runs parallel to the A-7 Autopista, directly from the airport through Estepona. It’s also possible to reach Estepona by bus from the airport via the private company, Portillo. Another way to get to Estepona apartments from the UK would be to fly to Gibraltar (GIB), also around 50 minutes from the town but served by fewer flights.

Fantastic family holiday day

5 of 5
We recently stayed in Sandra's apartment in Estepona and we agree with all the previous reviews. This apartment is fantastically equipped with lots of thoughtful touches including items you can borrow to use at the pool and on the beach. The apartment is located in a brilliant location in easy walking distance to the marina with lots of good restaurants, two markets, the beach and the promenade which is packed full of things to do for adults, and children. We have a toddler and a teenager and there was something for everyone. The showers in the apartment were excellent as was the comfort of the beds and the variety of channels on the television as well as excellent wifi. The apartment had plenty of space for everyone to relax and the balcony over looking the marina was perfect to sunbathe on. The apartment was spotlessly clean and the staff where we collected the keys from were really helpful in providing local information. We would definitely recommend this apartment and its location. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

2018 SUMMER HOLIDAY IN ESTEPONA SPAIN

5 of 5
I keep coming back, even after my third visit! My secret escape for me and my family. We love spending our holidays at Elizabeth’s Residence. Fabulous apartment surrounded by magnificent tropical gardens with direct access to the sea. The location is fantastic: you live in a quiet area and still you are close to shops and delighted Spanish restaurants, close to cities and close to golf clubs. The free sunbeds are everywhere at your disposal: at the three swimming pools and on the beach. It is never overcrowded and you can always use a sunbed. And the hosts Birgit and John are always available in case you may need some information or in case of any other request.
