Situated 2km off the western coast of Ibiza, Es Vedra is a Balearic island, a famous landmark and a mysterious rock all rolled into one. Although Es Vedra itself is uninhabited, self-catering accommodation can be found in the far south-west corner of Ibiza, Spain, offering absolute serenity, and unparalleled views of the rock that rises 389 metres out of the sea and is said to have mystical powers. Cala d’Hort beach is a small sandy stretch that offers fantastic views of Es Vedra, Ibiza. As well as being good for surfing and other water sports, the beach has three excellent restaurants. A number of myths and legends concern the mystical rock of Es Vedra, which is said to provide inspiration to all that go near it. Boat excursions can be easily arranged to the rock, and the brave can even opt to climb it.
The south-west corner of Ibiza is dotted with several small villages that each has their own set of amenities and character. The use of a hire car will allow you to explore the area to its fullest, with much to see and down, depending on your interests. Further afield, it makes sense to explore the whole of the island during your stay. Ibiza Town is the capital and a cosmopolitan centre, whilst San Antonio is home to many of the bars and nightclubs that make the island famous as a party capital.
The Ibizan summer is characterized by hour upon hour of glorious sunshine, warm temperatures that average above 25C from June to September, and low rainfall. Winters months are mild, with an average temperature of around 15C and little likelihood of frost or snow.
Ibiza Airport (IBZ) is just a short journey around the coast from Es Vedra. The airport is extremely busy during summer months, and as a result a number of flights can be found from all across the UK to this destination. easyJet, Thomas Cook Airlines and Thomson Airways are just some of the many airlines that make the journey.
