We stayed as a group of 10 in Jordi's house and everything about the stay was brilliant. The house is beautiful and really spacious, the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The downstairs was really homely and the kitchen is wonderful. The outside area with pool and BBQ was the most use area of the house.
Jordi was really accommodating and helpful, he gave some wonderful suggestions of where to shop for groceries and where to find really good paella. A perfect host.
The town of Calella is beautiful, it has a really old Spanish town feel with modern touches. The shops are a 2 minute walk from the house and the beach is only a further minute past the shops. There is everything here you would need for you stay and I would really recommend choosing this house for your holiday.
We needed to find a place fairly near Barcelona, which could accommodate about a dozen family members with an age range of 6-86. In the end, this villa served us very well. The pool is small but perfect for the little ones and the rest of us who really just wanted to dip in and out. A big plus is the main "living" floor which has lots of different spaces to sit and eat and chat, depending on whether you want sun or shade, views, little corners to play scrabble and chat... And the kitchen is very well equipped for easy catering, including a nice barbecue.
Interested guests would be advised to read the details on the website carefully. The stairs up from street level to the "living" floor are in fact very steep, somewhat uneven and about 40 in number with no rail - really hard with suitcases, bags of shopping and drinks, and carting rubbish away. Fortunately Giovanni gave us a very helpful hand when we first arrived otherwise I think we'd have turned tail and fled immediately. And while there are plenty of beds and sleeping areas (and bathrooms) it is not immediately easy to see how one's party can be accommodated if each is to have the privacy (or proximity) that they need.
I would say the website makes the place seem rather more luxurious and exotic than it is in reality (and that the price would actually merit) - some things are over the top but there are some areas looking rather like a youth hostel and unexpected steps in some places and lack of lighting especially after dark actually meant we had some nasty falls (even when sober). But the ready proximity to Barcelona (very near motorway but noise not troublesome), fabulous views of the sun rising over the sea in the distance (for those awake at 7am), and a plethora of first class restaurants within easy reach (Giovanni is an expert gastronomic tour guide), plus shops within easy reach though not unfortunately within walking distance (car absolutely essential) made our stay overall a good one. Giovanni could not have been more keen to help solve the smallest of issues to make sure that everyone in our fairly heterogeneous party was more or less content, while maintaining a discreet distance.
