The village of Deia (Deya) surrounds an ancient hilltop church in the west of Mallorca. Made of local stone, the village blends perfectly into the rugged countryside on which it stands, giving it blissfully natural, harmonious atmosphere. This idyllic village at first looks overrun, as the houses are surrounded by palm trees sporadically positioned throughout the streets and gardens, but in reality, Deia is a millionaires getaway, hidden from the tourist crowds, and hiding some incredible luxury private villas.

Things to do on holiday in Deia, Mallorca (Majorca)

The village is set inland from the coast, but there is a glorious walk down an old track to a small cove (cala) where fishermen still cast their nets each morning. You can drive to the sea, but the roads take you the ‘scenic’ route, and the walk is both easy and hugely enjoyable, although the walk back up to your Deia accommodation is slightly more strenuous!

The beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere or Deia mean that it is a favourite with artists, writers and musicians searching for inspiration. The village is set in the middle of a valley in the Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains, which hold the second highest peak on the island, Teix. A beautifully varied space to stay in.

So many outside spaces to enjoy, the pool being the jewel in the crown. It's underlit at night, and some of our most joyous moments were taking night time dips in it! The barbeque area was great, supplemented by an outdoor gas ring. That was new to us, and we had a great time cooking paella and fabada in it. The villa is within easy reach of Soller and Port Soller. It's on the fabulous MA10, the corniche road connecting all sorts of spectacular places from Andratx in the west to Pollenca in the east. Humi the host is warm, texting happy birthday to my partner when photos of our passports revealed to her that her birthday fell in the week of our stay! All in all, the place is a winner.

Wonderful house & perfect location.

Analia's house is absolutely beautiful , tastefully furnished , very spacious , all mod cons with a lovely little roof terrace (which is very private & gets full sun). The house doesn't have air conditioning but there are numerous fans around the house. The location of the house is perfect, just a short stroll from the square (which is full of cafe's, restaurants, church & shops). Soller is an amazing village with just a tram ride or walk (approx 4 km) to the beach at Port Soller . Analia was the perfect host - very friendly & very kind. Our only recommendations would be for a welcome guide & pack ( with information on recommended shops , restaurants , useful telephone numbers etc..) & a bottle of water in the fridge. Thank you Analia, we had a wonderful holiday .
