Make a holiday rental apartment or private villa in Deia, (Deya), Mallorca your home away from home

The village of Deia (Deya) surrounds an ancient hilltop church in the west of Mallorca. Made of local stone, the village blends perfectly into the rugged countryside on which it stands, giving it blissfully natural, harmonious atmosphere. This idyllic village at first looks overrun, as the houses are surrounded by palm trees sporadically positioned throughout the streets and gardens, but in reality, Deia is a millionaires getaway, hidden from the tourist crowds, and hiding some incredible luxury private villas.

Things to do on holiday in Deia, Mallorca (Majorca)

The village is set inland from the coast, but there is a glorious walk down an old track to a small cove (cala) where fishermen still cast their nets each morning. You can drive to the sea, but the roads take you the ‘scenic’ route, and the walk is both easy and hugely enjoyable, although the walk back up to your Deia accommodation is slightly more strenuous!

The beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere or Deia mean that it is a favourite with artists, writers and musicians searching for inspiration. Those looking for real comfort can find a range of luxury private villas in Deia in which to settle into, relax and enjoy the unrivalled combination of scenery, climate and atmosphere which belongs to Deia, Mallorca. The Archaeological Museum, Parroquial Museum and Museu de Son Marroig which are all located in the village are great places to visit from Deia accommodation to, with some fascinating exhibits on display, which allow you to gain a really good understanding of the area.

The village is set in the middle of a valley in the Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains, which hold the second highest peak on the island, Teix. The mountains are covered in a maze of ancient mule tracks and footpaths which are the perfect excuse for walkers to head up into the hills from their Deia rental property, and discover some of the wildest nature and finest views on the island. Walkers tend to take a Deya apartment or luxury private villa in Deia on either side of the peak tourist season (June until the end of August), as temperatures cool slightly making walking much more pleasant.

Places to holiday in Deia, Mallorca (Majorca)

Soller is the commercial centre of West Mallorca, and lies in the shadow of the island’s tallest peak. It is not a large town by any means, and sits on the back of a delightful crescent shaped bay.

Weather in Deia, Mallorca (Majorca)

Throughout the year, average monthly temperatures remain between 12 and 27˚C. In the summer, midday temperatures can soar into the mid 30’s on a very regular basis, meaning that the by the time you have walked down to the cala from your Deia accommodation, taking a dip in the refreshing sea is extremely tempting. Walkers will be happiest in a Deia rental property in the spring and autumn, as temperatures are warm, but not stiflingly hot.

Flights to Deia, Mallorca (Majorca)

You can be settling into a luxury private villa in Deia within half an hour of leaving Mallorca’s international airport, the Son Sant Joan Airport (PMI) in Palma. British Airways and easyJet both provide cheap, direct flights from the UK.

Lovely Place

5 of 5
Beautiful place for four. Just spent 10 days there and - although the weather was atrocious (according to the papers the worst in 25 years) - being able to stay in this clean, very well equipped and lovely house made the weather seem quite irrelevant. Highly recommended. I'd go back any day

Un superbe séjour en famille

5 of 5

Exactly as it says on the tin..

Charming converted wine cellar off the main road to Deia. Delightful owners who met us at the start and the end of our stay. The accommodation is part of a much larger house although this was not clear from the website. We visited in October as the weather was turning but I'm sure the small cosy garden full of mature bushes would provide excellent shade in the summer. In October it suffers from a little dampness that perhaps would be different in July. The accommodation has a unique floor layout with the only bathroom accessible from the master bedroom or outside. Make sure you know your fellow guests well or choose friends with large bladders. A chamber pot is supplied. From the accommodation you can walk down to a stony beach. Part of the path is paved but the portion down to the beach is heavily eroded. Be prepared to clamber and leave the pram at home. The same path can take you into Soller or to Cala Deia. Recommended but remember the restaurant in Cala Deia only takes cash, remember your swim stuff and your head for heights. The accommodation is very well equipped with air con in the main sitting area but no dishwasher and no wifi. There is good mobile reception in the garden so make sure your roaming is flexible. Nearest shops are in Deia - 2 well equipped but relatively expensive mini markets. We found supermarkets in soller that were a little bigger but had difficult parking or were hidden away in a maze of one way streets. Nearby places to visit - loads but do venture to sa calobra. A mighty cycle but much easier by car. Nearest Hotel is adults only. Not sure whether that is a euphemism for something but as we had kids in tow we never went. Loads of eateries in Deia with taxis/bus/ donkey to take you home In all a lovely wee flat - full of charm. Perhaps not quite what we expected from the website but defintely recommended. Next time we would stop at the Eroski next to Decathlon in Palma and stock up on our way from the airport - it's 5 euros per pass through the tunnel
