There are many wonderful sights and attractions in the province including at the capital city, Cuenca. Here holidaymakers will see numerous religious buildings such as Our Lady of Grace Cathedral and several churches. The Bishop’s Palace contains some tremendous religious art as part of its museum collection. The city has several other museums including the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Science. Other significant sites in the city include Las Casas Colgadas, the castle and the Mangana Tower as well as some very pretty parks and gardens. Another pleasant place to visit in the province is Villanueva de la Jara, where there are some interesting buildings such as Nuestra Señora de la Asunción's parochial church. Madrid is just over two hour’s drive away from Cuenca and has many more fantastic places to visit.

Weather in Cuenca Province, Spain

The warmest time of the year to visit the province of Cuenca is generally July and August when the average high is 31 degrees centigrade. In the winter months the average high temperatures are about 10 degrees centigrade with lows of 5 degrees. Summers are quite dry with July and August seeing the least amount of rainfall with an average of only 16mm in each month. May is generally the wettest month with an average of 60mm but the rain is fairly evenly spread through most of the year.

Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) is approximately a two hour and 10 minute’s drive from the province capital city of Cuenca. Great location, with easy access to places of interest. Whisper quiet. Carmen was quick to respond to queries and give insights into the area. Kitchen well equipped. Carmen's apartment and Cuenca highly recommended (we stayed 6 days).
