Things to do

-Sightseeing: One of centre spots for sight-seeing in Chamberi is the Plaza Olavide where pedestrians abound. There is a fountain at the centre of the plaza as well as benches to sit on and playgrounds for the children. The area is surrounded by small cafés, restaurants and shops which are popular with tourists staying in Chamberi holiday rentals. It gets very active during summer nights. The Plaza de Chamberi is also a well-known spot in Chamberi, and is frequented by many due to its prime location in the north of Madrid’s main city centre. It hosts the annual 'Fiestas del Carme' which takes place in July.

-The Fiesta of the Virgin of Carmen: Every year in July, the Chamberi holiday home residents and locals come out in full swing to celebrate the Fiesta of the Virgin of Carmen also known as Fiestas del Carme. For Catholics, the virgin of Carmen is a patron saint and protector of fishermen and sailors. Her statues are taken out for boat trips around the bays of seaside towns and villages. All there is only one day dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen – 16th July – celebrations go on for the whole week and sometimes even go into the next week in some places. The festival is a good way to experience true Spanish culture.

-Eat out: There are many lovely restaurants in Chamberi, where residents of Chamberi holiday homes can enjoy delicious Spanish meals either alone or with company. They can also opt to eat at Don Oso, which is an American restaurant, or Oldenburg – a German restaurant. Wagaboo is one of the more popular Spanish restaurants in Chamberi. It is a modern dining restaurant with a wide range of different meals from different parts of the world such as Africa and the Carribbean. On Thursday evenings, there is a special offer of unlimited mojitos until midnight. The staff is friendly and the meals are filling and affordable.

-Nightlife: Part of Madrid’s quintessential attractions is its diverse, culturally rich nightlife. Visitors can pull on their dancing shoes and dance to anything from the usual electronic dance mixes spun by DJs in clubs to the more cultured flamenco or the yet more subdued jazz. Madrid regularly draws big names for unforgettable live performances. If shaking a leg is not your thing there are oodles of places you can quietly socialize while sipping your poison of choice.

Great location, clean comfortable safe, lots of nice touches.

The host was welcoming and available for questions during my stay. The location is great, a short walk from Bilbao metro station and some lovely restaurants and shopping very near. The apartment is delightful with good kitchen, bathroom, comfortable bed and living/dining area. This ground floor space is perfect for one or two people. I travelled on my own and felt very safe in the neighbourhood and with window/door shutters it was secure and dark for good sleeping. Lovely throught with nice touches. Very much recommended.

A Pleasant Stay in Madrid

5 of 5
We stayed at this flat for a week in March 09. The weather was great and we found Madrid to be a clean and beautiful city. The flat was clean, quiet, comfortable and just as nice as shown on the photographs. It is furnished more like a home than a holiday let. There are plenty of bars and restaurants and shops nearby. The Madrid Metro is reliable and frequent and so it is easy to get to any part of the city from the nearby stations. Finally the owner is friendly and helpful taking time to explain what is in the vicinity.
