Lovely retreat in the Basque hill country
We wanted an attractive rural location within easy driving distance from supermarkets and interesting places to visit. The house in Archua was an excellent choice from that perspective. It is only 35 minutes from an excellent supermarket in Vitoria, 45 minutes from Laguardia in the heart of the Rioja wine region, 90 minutes from the beautiful seaside city of San Sebastian.. Thanks to our host, Andoni Pinedo, we also visited Santa Catalina Botanical Garden--only 30 minutes away by car and an attraction we would not have known about without his advice.
Excellent Stay in Azuelo
This is a really special property, probably the best rented property we have stayed in. It is in in a very attractive rural setting in a small Spanish village but large towns with all facilities are quickly reachable with a car. The house itself has been beautifully and lovingly restored, and is kept clean and well maintained. The owner lives in the same village and is very approachable and friendly but discreet. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to other people who like rural settings and holidays.
We particularly enjoyed the proximity of the property to the Camino de Santiago (only 10 minutes away); and the city of Logrono (half an hour by car) is accessible and attractive.
