Travel to Cartaya, Spain

There is an airport in Huelva (HEV), but to be honest, as far as connections with the UK are concerned, this did not seem like a good option for your holidays in Cartaya. Instead, Seville San Pablo Airport (SVQ) appears to be your best option with three airlines currently operating services here from the UK: Ryan Air, Vueling Airlines and easyJet. You can depart from airports such as East Midlands (EMA), London Gatwick (LGW), London Heathrow (LHR) and seasonally from Bristol (BRS) and Liverpool (LPL).

Classy Villa with Pool in a truly Spanish resort

5 of 5
We stayed for two weeks in Nuevo Portil in this well equipped villa that accommodated three families - two grandparents, one family with two children under 3 and a second family with one child under 1 sharing his parents room. We fitted in well and found the villa well maintained and finished to a good level. Pool was a little cool as shaded by trees at the end of the garden but it had the benefit of being fully fenced - a comfort when supervising an active toddler. Our only reservations were the number of insects (inc mosquitos) in the area generally, but once we got control of this by use of air con and bug killers things were much better. A minor point to improve the stay would have been a comprehensive visitors folder giving information on the area, travel info, local custom, restaurants, shops etc.

Superb villa and pool

5 of 5
We have just got home from a wonderful ten days at Casa Molineros. We stayed with our three young children plus my parents and the villa's layout suited this set-up perfectly. There is even a door separating the three downstairs bedrooms from the staircase leading to the master bedroom upstairs making it ideal for two families to share but also enjoy their own privacy. The rooms were spotless, spacious and the kitchen extremely well-equipped. Air conditioning in every room made the hot evenings bearable and the amazing blackout shutters meant we all had long, lazy lie ins! The pool has steps leading down into it making it ideal for our youngest who can't swim yet to sit and play there, beach towels are also included. We barbecued some evenings and enjoyed breakfast on the sunny terrace each morning. We would recommend a car for this house: shops, the beach and restaurants are all within walking distance but in the glorious Spanish heat and with young children in tow a car would make things a little easier. We had a lovely meal in El Rompido where there are bars and a play area next to the beachfront, the old town here is beautiful and vibrant with shops and bars. We got a taxi there and back. This is the perfect base for a holiday if you want to experience a taste of real Spain, we tried to get on Spanish time quickly as you will find many restaurants don't open until 9pm and the beach is still really busy at this time. Many thanks to Christiana the house keeper who had excellent communication and was very helpful and patient, especially when our taxi was very late picking us up to go home (we wouldn't recommend Hoppa taxis from Faro airport!) Hopefully we will return to this beautiful villa in the future.
