Make a holiday villa in Cap des Moró your home away from home

A Majorca vacation is just what the doctor ordered when you need to get away from it all. However, some parts of Majorca are so crowded in summer that you’re really just swapping one rat race for another. You can avoid feeling exhausted after your break by opting for an out-of-the-way destination, for instance a Cap des Moró holiday villa. Holiday homes in Cap des Moró typically comes in the form of larger properties with quite a bit of space between you and your neighbours, ensuring a good deal of privacy. Most holiday rentals have their own swimming pool and BBQ facilities as well as the conveniences you need to have a relaxing stay.

Things to do in Cap des Moró

Adjacent to S’Almunia, Cap des Moró is a small, off-the-beaten-track residential area on Majorca’s rugged south-eastern coast. The larger inland towns of Es Llombards and Santanyí are located to the north-west and north, respectively. Because it is so out of the way yet close enough to many of Majorca’s attractions, a holiday cottage in Cap des Moró is a great place to base yourself if peace and quiet are top of the list of your requirements for the ideal holiday.

-Calo des Moro the stunning beach is the main attraction at Cap des Moro apart from the peaceful surroundings. Hidden away in a secluded bay, the small beach is sandy and protected by high cliffs on either side. The landscape here is spectacular and you’ll definitely want to bring your camera.

-Snorkelling and diving are popular in the bay with its crystal-clear water with excellent visibility. You can also explore the waters at S’Almunia on the southern outskirts of Cap des Moró. The beach here is a little rocky but the water is clear.

- Good walking and cycling opportunities are provided by the rugged terrain around Cap des Moró. There is a trail out onto the cape itself or you may prefer to go up along the coast to the nearby beach resorts of Cala Llombards and Cala Santanyí. The area inland towards Es Llombards and Santanyí is flatter and dotted with agricultural fields.

- S’Estany de Ses Gambes is an excellent area for bird watching. This lake on Cap de Ses Salines attracts a variety of marine birds. Once you’re here, you may also want to go fishing at nearby Laguna d’es Tamarells.

-Santanyi is best visited on a Wednesday or Saturday. This small town has a wonderful, lively market where you can stock up on supplies for scrumptious meals in your Cap des Moró holiday villa. Stroll around town and admire the historic buildings, most of which are built of the yellow sandstone particular to this area.

The weather in Cap des Moró

Cap des Moró has a dry, Mediterranean climate. Maximum temperatures in summer can reach to around 30 °C but average summer temperatures remain in the mid-twenties. Winter temperatures are mild and rarely drop below 6 °C. November is the wettest month while June and July see hardly any rain at all, so you can use the outside areas of your Cap des Moró holiday accommodation to the fullest.

Getting to Cap des Moró

Because it’s off the beaten track, Cap des Moró is a little tricky to get to if you don’t have a car. You need to travel to Palma de Majorca first, which you can do by flying in from most major airports in Europe or by taking the ferry from Barcelona. From there you can travel to Santanyí by bus and then take a taxi to Cap des Moró. However, to make the most of a holiday villa in Cap des Moró, it’s best to rent a car in Palma and drive here yourself. It is a distance of about 34 miles.

Location, Location, Location

Yes, it has been said already the pool is small. Honestly I would have made it at least a metre wider an longer, but hey it isn't. There were 2 of us and it was perfect for a dip and to cool off, so what else can I find wrong, well nothing really. It is 300 metres from the beach next to the Hotel Cala D'or where we swam and snorkelled and it is never that crowded. It is 300 metres from the Marina and probably no more than 400 metres from the town, if that is your thing. Location wise it is in a small side road away from it all and is quiet, just peaceful and it has a garage. Because the trees provide some privacy, they also restrict full on sunbathing between 10.30 and around 6.00pm, the terrace up top has bamboo above that provides no protection from the rain, which I would change (we had 2 hours of rain) but is a fantastic place to sit and watch the boats enter and leave the marina, you can also hear the sea crashing into the rocks. Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. We only used the main bedroom, so cannot comment on the others, but basically we loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. Alicia, who met us was very nice and more than helpful, nothing it seemed would be a problem and indeed it wasn't. She even offered that we could check out later as no-one was coming until the next day, very accommodating and exactly the service you want. Why haven't I given it 5 out of 5, well mainly the pool, the terrace covering (it rained remember and the terrace table was covered in whatever is on top of the bamboo and a pool of water) and I can't give it 4.5 stars, because it is. 5 out of 5 would need a bigger pool, but remember for me it was fine. If the rating was out of 10 it would be 9. Thanks Alicia, we had a fantastic time.

Stunning

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage and Francisca could not have been more helpful. Perfectly located for exploring the many small coves around Cala d'Or and providing a tranquil retreat at days end. We made much use of the magnificent pool, lovely terrace and it's delightful garden setting.
