Make a holiday apartment in Cap d’Artrutx your home away from home

Cap d’Artrutx holiday homes are set in southwestern Menorca, at a charming location that is perfectly geared towards family tourism. There’s no end of things to see and do close to holiday apartments in Cap d’Artrutx, from exquisite white beaches, to outdoor adventure and fun family attractions. When the time comes to take things easy, Cap d’Artrutx apartments will be a stress-free escape, full of luxurious features such as private pools and secluded gardens. Most rentals are whitewashed in the traditional Menorcan style, and sit within a stone’s throw of the Mediterranean.

Things to do

-Beaches: The beach at Cala'n Bosch is easy to get to from Cap d’Artrutx, and offers a curve of white sand that shelves gently below the water’s edge. The shallow sea here is very calm, and suited to swimmers of all abilities. Within a short car trip there are some beautiful coves to discover, like Cala Turqueta and Cala Macarella, which are just as safe, but also a little more secluded.

-Family activities: With the arresting scenery of one of the Mediterranean’s truly unspoiled islands all around, there’s plenty of fun waiting for families in this part of Menorca. There’s a zoo, a water park, horse stables, a go-kart centre, as well as outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, golf and sea kayaking. Menorca’s coastline is great for kayaking, due to its wealth of sheltered bays and coves.

-Heritage: Ciutadella de Menorca is no more than a few minutes up the west coast, and, as the island’s historic former capital, contains lots of interesting old buildings and quaint cobblestone streets. Much of the architecture here is Italian in style and was constructed in the 1600s. A notable exception is the Cathedral, dating to the 14th century and in the Catalan gothic style, but with a neoclassical facade.

-Diving: With such an indented coastline and a commitment to preserving its natural splendour, Menorca is simply made for diving. At Cap d’Artrutx there’s a dive centre offering trips to see underwater caverns, reefs, shipwrecks and archaeological sites as well as abundant wildlife. P.A.D.I. courses are available, from taster sessions, right up to divemaster qualifications.

-Day trips: As Menorca has more beaches than any other Balearic island, it pays to have a sense of adventure here. Some fantastic examples can be found on the rugged northern coast, like the beautiful and remote Cala del Pilar. For foodies one of Spain’s favourite cheeses is produced on Menorca—although it takes its name from the island’s capital, Mahon cheese is made at a number of locations, including Sant Patrici, just outside Ferreries.

Weather in Cap d’Artrutx

Cap d’Artrutx holiday rentals are on an island with typically Mediterranean weather. Here conditions are warm, dry and sunny between May and October. At the start of the season daily temperatures peak at about 23°C, but rise to the upper-20s come July and August. Although the rain creeps in as autumn approaches there are still plenty of dry sunny days as late as October. Between November and April the weather is much milder, and although there’s more precipitation at this time of year a normal January day is clear with highs of about 13°C.

Travel to Cap d’Artrutx

Menorca’s international airport is Mahon (MAH), sitting towards the island’s eastern shore approximately 50 minutes from Cap d’Artrutx. Most flights from the UK to Mahon are with budget airlines and charters, and services are normally scaled down during the winter months. For those travelling by road to their holiday home in Cap d’Artrutx, the Me-1 connects Mahon with Ciutadella, and from there the RC-2 can be followed to reach the southwestern corner of the island. It’s also possible to catch a bus from the airport with the Torres Allés Autocares bus company.

Lovely villa in a quiet location

5 of 5
Met by the owners on arrival at the lighthouse who showed us the way to the villa in a quiet culdesac. Great first impression arriving to the villa all lit up, pool lights on and nice decor. Everything you need is supplied although a bigger kettle would be nice. There was a problem with the toilet whilst we were staying but the owners checked straight away and informed us what had happened. The area is really quiet but there are a couple of bars, supermarkets and a resaurant just around the corner and a lovely walk (15 mins) into Cala n Bosh where there are lots of bars, restaurants, a harbour, shops and the beach. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this villa and would recommend to our friends and family.

Independent house in small complex overlooking the sea with lovely views across to Mallorca

4 of 5
House is one of nine arranged around a small swimming pool on a seafront road (no beach) with easy parking. Atmosphere is quiet and easy-going. House is as shown in photos, compact, light, open plan with three outside areas one of which is on the roof with lovely views. Kitchen area quite small (three hotplates, microwave, no oven); plenty of crockery. Access for keys etc very straightforward. Owners very prompt in replying to any queries and provide a e-pamplet (spanish) listing beaches and attractions with very useful details including photos and directions. The main port is 20 minutes walk where there are restaurants and a few minimarkets catering for holiday hotels and flats (low rise). Menorca is a lovely island with beautiful beaches and the Cami de Cavells, a footpath all along the coast.
