Make a holiday villa in Cala Romantica your home away from home

There is nothing like a holiday by the seaside to lift the spirits, especially if it’s somewhere in sunny climes as well. A Cala Romantica holiday villa is just the place to go to for a relaxing beach break. Holiday apartments in Cala Romantica are a more compact option for couples or small families. Most rental properties are geared towards those who want to spend as much time as possible outdoors, with BBQ facilities and in some cases, their own swimming pool. At many, even your pets will be welcome. The selected holiday villas in Cala Romantica at HomeAway are fully furnished and equipped with most of the modern conveniences you might want for a stress-free stay in Majorca.

Things to do in Cala Romantica

Cala Romantica is a small resort town on Majorca’s less developed east coast, about 6 miles south-west of Porto Cristo. Because this part of Majorca doesn’t receive as many visitors as the developed resort areas, it’s relatively undeveloped and quiet meaning holiday homes in Cala Romantica live up to the location’s name.

-The beaches close to holiday accommodation in Cala Romantica are stunning. Cala Romantica beach as well as the adjacent beaches to the north, Cala Mendia and Cala Anguila, all feature fine, soft sand and clear, turquoise water, great for snorkelling. Each beach is situated in its own sheltered cove and while neither is very long, they’re all wide with plenty of space to bask in the sun. At Cala Romantica beach, you can hire pedal boats.

-Walking, cycling and horseback riding opportunities are plentiful in the area around Cala Romantica. A particularly good walk is along the coast to some of the unspoilt, secluded beaches to the south, like Cala Varques which is a little less than 2 miles away. Remember to take your own supplies since these beaches don’t have any facilities like shops or restaurants.

-The Coves dels Hams are about a mile north of Cala Romantica. The more famous Coves del Drach are even closer but more to the north-east. A visit to either of these cave complexes will take you to a magical underground world where the stalactites and stalagmites are even more breath-taking in the coloured lighting. Underground lakes and music add to the ambience.

-Porto Cristo is a good place to drop in to when you visit the caves but is also a nice excursion from Cala Romantica holiday villas. This traditional fishing village still has a thriving industry and you can see evidence of this when you look at all the fishing boats in the harbour. You can stock up on supplies at the Sunday market and if you see someone who looks a lot like Rafael Nadal, it probably is. His family has a holiday home here.

-JumaicaTropical Park is on the road south to Porto Colom and near Cales de Majorca, and is something you probably wouldn’t have expected in Majorca’s dry Mediterranean climate: a lush tropical landscape. The parkfeatures the island’s only banana plantation and a range of animals. Kids will love it and it’s a great place for a picnic.

The weather in Cala Romantica

Cala Romantica has a dry and sunny climate. Rain falls in winter but even then, there are less than a week’s rainy days per month. Maximum temperatures reach into the lower thirties in summer and remain a mild 15 °C in the colder months. Minimum temperatures can drop down to about 3 °C in January.

Getting to Cala Romantica

Cala Romantica is quite easy to reach. From the island’s only airport at Palma you can travel by bus to Porto Cristo and then transfer to travel onwards to Cala Romantica. Another option is to take a taxi either from Palma or from Porto Cristo. If you prefer to self-drive, it’s about 42 miles and from there you only need to travel 4 to 5 miles to most Cala Romantica holiday accommodation.

Wonderful villa

5 of 5
Just come back from a 10 day stay at the villa. The villa is absolutely lovely and perfect if your having a big family trip. We were only in couples but I could see the appeal to families. It was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need. The supermarket is 10 minutes away as is the town. You can grab a taxi for 10€ to Porto christo or Cala Millor. Thomas was very friendly and just let us get on with it. My one criticism would be the wifi isn't accessible near the games room so a buffer would be good! But other than that absolutely perfect :)

Just Perfect!!!

5 of 5
On holiday with my 3 grown up children for a 5 night break. The villa was very clean and was well equipped for all our needs. The pool was an added bonus which we did enjoy. The villa is in a ideal location with the beach and bars/restaurants all within a short walk and also supermarket 2 mins walk. The owner Magdalena was at the villa to greet us and was more than helpful in showing us around the villa and letting us know all about the local amenities etc. We all had a great time and would recommend this villa to anyone.
