Make a holiday rental home or villa in the Cala Ratjada Region, Spain your home away from home

The principal port and coastal town of the Capdepera district of Majorca, Spain, Cala Ratjada lies on a rocky peninsula in the North East of the island. Over the last few decades the town has developed from a quiet fishing port into a busier tourist centre, with a bustling nightlife and a number of varied attractions for all ages. Apartments and villas are the main choices of holiday accommodation in Cala Ratjada.

Things to do in the Cala Ratjada Region, Spain

As with several other destinations on the island, Cala Ratjada experiences two distinct tourist seasons. April to October is the busiest season, and popular with younger singles and couples looking for a lively resort with a good nightlife that goes on until around 6am in the many bars and nightclubs on the main strip. Outside of peak season it is more relaxed, and the choice of many older visitors seeking some winter sun.

There is much more to Cala Ratjada than just a good nightlife, including one of the largest medieval castles on the island, a local market every Saturday morning, and several championship-standard golf courses. The original harbour of Cala Ratjada is also still in operation, though now the home of more private cruise ships than fishing vessels.

This corner of the island has a dramatic coastline which contains many sandy coves and beaches. Many of the beaches have been awarded the EU Blue Flag for their cleanliness and water quality, including the busiest beach, Son Moll. If you prefer to steer away from the crowds, consider heading to Cala Guya, Cala Mesquida or Cala Agulla, all of which are quieter, but equally high in quality.

Places to visit on holiday in the Cala Ratjada Region, Spain

When staying in Cala Ratjada, consider hiring a car and experiencing more of the beautiful island of Majorca. The north and east of the island have some interesting places worthy of your attention and none more so than Alcudia, a walled city on the sites of a Roman settlement. Pollensa is another option, and offers good shopping and some high-class fish restaurants.

Weather in the Cala Ratjada Region, Spain

Majorca is especially popular during the summer months, when almost every day is sunny, with temperatures hovering around the 30C mark. Out of this peak season, temperatures are pleasant and mild, meaning Cala Ratjada makes for an excellent winter relaxation break or golfing trip.

Flights to the Cala Ratjada Region, Spain

Many cheap flights can be found to Majorca, and some good offers can be found if booking early. Cala Ratjada lies 65km from Palma de Mallorca Airport, and makes for a pleasant drive through the towns of Manacor and Arta on the way to your chosen rental accommodation. You can choose to hire a car from the airport, or there are a number of shuttle and taxi options that will drop you at your destination.

Very good location, near to beaches

4 of 5
My husband, our two boys aged 3 and 5 and my mother-in-law stayed here for two weeks. We are only back a few weeks. The apartment was very spacious, we had plenty of bed linen and towels. We arrived very late at night and we were glad to see cold water in the fridge yummy cakes from Noeila’s pastelería!! The apartment is a 2 min walk from a Stoney beach ( the one you can see in the pictures). No one really goes there because it’s too rugged. The council should really get diggers in & clear the stones/rocks away. The Son Moll beach is a short 4/5 mins away. We rented a car & there was a space in the underground car park. Thank god for this because parking on the street is very tight & you’d be afraid your car would get scratched. It states that there is air-conditioning. This is misleading because the a/c is only in the sitting room/dining area. The heat in the bedrooms was stifling. Initially we only had a fan each in the 3 bedrooms, it wasn’t enough. Javier & Noeila got us more fans ( ventilator ). Noeila was brilliant with her correspondence, always at the end of her WhatsApp & her bakery, Tolan, is a short stroll from the house & near Trady’s supermarket. I asked if she could get a stroller I could borrow & she did. She is so helpful. The bars & restaurants on the seafront promenade are divine. Our favourites werr: pasta pasta, Noah’s ( excellent breakfast), Traumería, sole mio ( near pier) & more. Overall we had a super stay. 😁
