Cajiz is a rural gem in the hills above Almayate, at an altitude of 175 metres. The village is typical of the area with a cluster of red-roofed, whitewashed houses set on the hillside around the 18th century Church of San Jose. The village has a population of around 650 people. There are a couple of small bars and restaurants and it has easy access to nearby towns and beaches.

Holiday villas at Cajiz are just 5 km from the coast and the quiet sandy beaches at Niza, Linda and Benajarafe on the Costa del Sol. There are countless opportunities for things to do for all ages including sunbathing, boating, fishing, sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving and water sports rental. Further inland, Lake Vinuela and the mountains trails are ideal for mountain biking, hiking, horseriding, rock climbing and picnicking. In the winter the mountains offer skiing and snowboarding at ski resorts about 90 minutes drive away. Golfers will find plenty of golf courses to choose from along the coast. The nearest golf course to Cajiz is at Baviera, 10 km away.

Places to Visit Around Cajiz, Andalusia

Nerja is within easy reach of Cajiz holiday villas and is ideal for shopping and dining out. The Caves of Nerja with their cave paintings are the main attraction in the area. Explore the nearby Natural Park of Sierra Tejeda and visit the cliffs of Maro. Torcal in Antequera has countless Moorish towers and fortresses along the Mudejar Route. Velez-Malaga is a major shopping centre just 10 minutes away and the coastal city of Malaga is within easy reach. Seville, Cordoba and Granada make an excellent day trip into the mountains. The busy city of Granada has magnificent architecture with the Alhambra Palace sitting on cliffs high above. Take a tour of this impressive fortress before strolling in the water gardens of the Moorish palace.

Fabulous Rural Retreat

We have just returned from a 3 month winter break at Villa La Cruz and would highly recommend it to to anyone looking relax, unwind and chill out. Yes the villa is rural and the road to Los Ventorros and the track down to the Villa is challenging but it is more than worth it for the beautiful setting the spectacular views and the tranquility. The villa is very private not overlooked and the only sounds you will hear are the sounds of the bells on the mountain goats in the valley below and "OTI" the resident donkey! The villa is extremely well equipped for 8 people with high quality appliances with lots of crockery, glassware etc. The pool is the gem of this villa lots of space with far reaching spectacular views of the mountains , olive groves and the surrounding area from every angle. Restaurant El Molino is a five minute drive away where you will be warmly welcomed by Antonio Encarni and family and experience the local spanish cuisine, we highly recommend the Gambas Pils Pils. The owners and management team are on hand 24/7 by e mail or by phone and any problems or issues that we had were dealt with efficiently within an hour so, we couldnt have asked for better service. In conclusion if you want a relaxing , laid back and peaceful holiday this is the villa for you. We are already looking forward to our return later this year. Vilma Craig and Dexter (Dog)
