A stone's throw from fabulous beach in a beautiful part of northwest Spain

5 of 5
Authentic Galician house (complete with traditional grain store). Literally 3 minutes (slow) walk from the fabulous Porto Maior beach which is complete with a little bar on which you can relax until 10.30pm and watch the sunset over a glass of wine. Fresh bread every day and pastries from the bakery (2 mins walk). Breakfast on the lovely (shaded terrace) overlooking a beautifully kept garden with the hills in the background. Parking is on a quiet street which isn't a problem except on sunny days in the mid-afternoon where you might have to park a bit further away. The house itself is well-stocked and while not ultra-modern, it's charming and has all you need for a family holiday (we were 5 - 3 children (13, 11, 7 yrs). Alvaro was a very gracious host and kindly had some essentials in the fridge on our arrival. We had a fantastic holiday is this beautiful part of Spain (not frequented too much by non-Spaniards) with the old cities of Pontevedra, Vigo and Santiago all close by. We ate out most days which was really good value (in comparison to Ireland) and the food everywhere was excellent, particularly the fish/seafood. If you're considering a holiday in this part of the Rias Baixas... I recommend the Bueue side over Sanxenxo... it's far less built up. Day trip to Isla de Ons is 40 mins boat ride - well worth it -lovely walks. Highly recommend!
