Make a holiday chalet in Bellver de Cerdanya your home away from home

Compiled on HomeAway, Bellver de Cerdanya chalets and holiday homes offer guests rural tranquility with a dose of luxury, up in the Spanish Pyrenees. Ski resorts in Spain, Andorra and France are close by, and the stunning mountain scenery all around is sure to breathe new life into you. Away from the ski season your Bellver de Cerdanya holiday home could serve as an opulent base for refreshing mountain walks, with a range of adventure sports on offer for the more intrepid visitors. Or you could simply cosy up by the fireplace, and revel in the stunning views from the gardens at holiday rentals in Bellver de Cerdanya.

Things to do

-Ski. The nearest resort is Alp 2500, a few kilometres to the east. It comprises two main ski areas, bringing together 83 miles of slopes. The ski season normally lasts for 150 days between November and April. La Molina here has 52 runs and recently hosted the Snowboarding World Championships. La Masella meanwhile has one of the largest snowmaking systems in Spain as well as a high-quality ski and snowboard school.

-Golf. In the summer there are two 18-hole golf courses just below the main ski areas in Cerdanya, set in the kind of landscape you’ve always dreamed of playing. Fontanals is a demanding course and has comprehensive practice facilities, as well as a pro shop, restaurant, spa, sauna, tennis courts and swimming pool. Real Club de Golf was founded back in 1929 and also has a nine-hole par-3 course.

-Walks. There’s a huge network of walking routes across the region, including nine trails that you can pick up right from Bellver de Cerdanya. There are monumental adventures like the Route of the Cathars, exploring the medieval heritage of the region on the way to Ariege in France. Shorter is the five-hour hike south to Bagà, cutting through limestone cliffs, past charming Romanesque churches and offering lots of chances to stop and enjoy the remarkable views.

-Adventure sport. In Bellver there’s an ecotourism centre providing lots of guided activities, including quad-biking, rock-climbing and a choice of canyoning adventures. Canyoning entails climbing up or abseiling down rapids, waterfalls and ravines, with a minimum age requirement of about 10 years. The ski station at La Molina also offers all kinds of fun in summer, from lake scuba diving to go-karting.

-Food and drink. If you have a taste for cheese and are interested in the cheese-making process then there are two places you could visit close by. There’s a dairy workshop at Ermengol, teaching small groups all about pastures and curd, and also offering the chance to taste a medley of local cheeses. In Ger there’s a commercial dairy mill, open to tour throughout the year. For fine dining, the much vaunted La Torre de Remei and Can Borell are also within a short drive.

Weather in Bellver de Cerdanya

Arrive at a chalet in Bellver de Cerdanya between December and March and in all likelihood the high ground in this area will be covered with snow. Temperatures away from the slopes will be moderately cool, rising just above freezing during the day. The climate here is continental, which results in a big gap between winter and summer conditions. The summer season starts in earnest in June, bringing highs in the mid-20s until around September. Bellver de Cerdanya is also known for its sunshine, getting around 300 clear days a year.

Travel to Bellver de Cerdanya

As this town is essentially a collection of outlying hamlets and isolated farmhouses, cars are necessary at holiday homes in Bellver de Cerdanya. The nearest airport is Barcelona-El Prat (BCN), which is 150 kilometres south of the town. From the UK you’ve got a wide choice of airlines and routes to this destination, which is second only to Madrid’s in size. Once you’re on the road, it’s basically a straight drive north on the C-16 for just over an hour and a half.

Excellent, comfortable warm accomodation

5 of 5
We had a great week in La Molina. The flat was great. Very friendly contact before the stay from Ernesto and from local contact Diego at beginning and stay of stay. Everything was great with flat (it does have WiFi). Beds comfortable, kitchen well equipped, there is everything you need including dishwasher, washing machine dryer, lounge seating comfortable- flat was nice and warm and plenty of hot water. Parking in garage was easy as flat has two allocated places. Within very easy access for La Molina and Masella and we went to Andorra for the day. Thanks for a great week.

We would recommend the property and will be looking to book the same accommodation next year. The only issue was the shower in the lift room leaked into the wardrobe in the master bedroom and our cloths got extremely wet. We had to limit the use which was inconvenient and didn’t get fixed during our stay. Other than this we would recommend the property and hope to be back next year.
