Stayed the last two weeks of August with the family, ages 1 to 71. The villa is well equipped and very home from home. The bedrooms are all spacious and very comfortable. Most have their own balcony with either pool views or views over the town/ countryside. The rooms are also ensuite, which is lovely when you are a big group. There is plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. The pool area was a great hit with the kids. We spent most of the holiday lazing around the pool. The villa was very clean and well maintained. Gary the host, emailed me, regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. When we arrived the 'baton' was handed over to Jimmy and Stacey, who were on hand for us to ask any questions about the villa or village. They were very knowledgeable of the area and the surrounding area. We loved the outdoor spaces that the villa provided and had many lovely family dinners, including BBQ's. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to cook dinner.
The village is around a 5 mins walk away. It's not touristy and most if not all of the locals don't speak English but they do understand you. They love it if you try and speak a little Spanish. There are many restaurants in the village. All are very reasonably priced and the portion sizes are huge! I would recommend D'Vinos, La Casa, Isabella Pizzas, Contracorriente and Flying Fish and Chips. If you are going out try and check if the restaurants are open as it is hit and miss. A visit to the museum is a must ( Museo de Belenes) - check opening times as it is random times. We also visited the lakes (Ardales) where you can hire, pedalos, paddle boards- a really beautiful area. The next town Antequera is very pretty with lots of nice places to eat and drink. This villa has it all, whether you want to lounge around a pool and amble to dinner or have a base to explore this lovely area of Spain. Thank you for our stay would highly recommend staying here.
I honestly cannot begin to explain how fantastic this holiday has been for us. I booked this villa with two close friends and their families back in January for our stay in August, and all of us agree it’s been the best holiday we’ve ever had.
Jon is wonderful at communication from the start, and his housekeepers Isabel and Rafa (who meet you at the villa and help with anything you need) are extremely friendly and helpful. The villa has four good sized bedrooms, four indoor bathrooms, and one bathroom for the swimming pool. Jon has equipped the living area with loads of books, checkers, and several sets of cards for entertainment. It was extremely clean and easy to maintain for the week we were here. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need and basic cooking supplies like oil and salt.
There is a Carrefour 20 minutes away by car for larger shops, or a Mercadona about 10 minutes away. Otherwise, the village has most basics that you could want. I would actually love to live in Lora de Estepa! It is a quaint and friendly place that is extremely clean and just generally lovely. Although it’s small, it has several bars which serve tapas and a good restaurant. Every morning we went to one of the bars for media tostada con cafe con leche.
While most days were spent in or around the pool (which is good sized and deep enough for diving), we did go into Sevilla. If you stay here, you MUST visit Sevilla! It’s an hour and a half away by car and is magical.
Overall, I am in love with Spain (if you couldn’t tell already), and we will be coming back to stay at Jon’s in the future.
