Make a holiday rental home or villa in Antas, Spain your home away from home

Surrounded with fruit groves, situated within the foothills of the Filabres Mountains, and just 15km from the sea, Antas is a charming town in an envious position, so attracts a decent number of tourists every year despite its relatively small size. The old town is quiet, friendly and well-preserved, with the few modern buildings in the area having been sympathetically rendered to perfectly blend in with the existing 16th and 17th century structures. Consider this charming area of Almeria for your next holiday rental experience.

Things to do in Antas, Spain

Antas lies in the heart of orange and lemon country, with fruit groves stretching for miles in all directions around the town. Unsurprisingly, copious amounts of fruit are available to buy at the local market, but there is also plenty of other high quality local produce on offer – ideal for a self-catering holiday as it keeps the price down and allows you to sample the delicacies of the region.

If you fancy a night out there are a decent selection of cafe-bars and restaurants to be found around town, the majority of which provide hearty and tasty dishes at reasonable prices. Nightlife is friendly, but, as you may expect from such a small town, does not continue long into the night. Nearby Vera is a better option on this front.

Partying until dawn is not the main reason people visit Antas, however, and with a charming old town to explore it would be a shame to waste your daytime nursing a hangover. The narrow streets have retained their age-old Spanish charm, and an enjoyable morning or afternoon can be spent wandering, exploring and sampling the wares from the local businesses.

Places to visit on holiday in Antas, Spain

As previously mentioned, the neighbouring town of Vera (7km) has more in the way of bars and restaurants than Antas, as well as bigger supermarkets and a greater selection of shops. It also has a number of historical buildings, making it an extremely worthwhile day trip when staying in Antas. If the weather becomes too hot and you just want to hit the beach, you have plenty to choose. Mojacar Playa (15km) is one of the most popular spots in the region, and there are also a number of more laid-back sandy stretches further along the coast.

Weather in Antas, Spain

It is hard to find fault with the weather in and around Antas, with well over 300 days of sunshine every year and very little in the way of rain. July and August are the hottest months with a daily average of 30C, but even January and February can have daily high temperatures of over 20C – ideal for a spot of winter sun.

Flights to Antas, Spain

Almeria Airport (LEI) serves the local region, and is situated 77km south of Antas – around an hour’s drive away. Flight options from the UK include direct services from easyJet (London Gatwick), Thomas Cook Airlines (Birmingham, London Gatwick & Manchester) and Jet2.com (Leeds-Bradford). Flight time is a little over two hours.

beautiful villa, clean and spacious with stunning views over the resort.

5 of 5
We were a family of 8 and at no time felt cramped. The villa was equipped well enough to be able to cook at home if you wished but there were so many fantastic restaurants to choose from that it was not really necessary. They were all very family friendly which helped with our two year old twins. In the run up to our stay we had to make contact with the owner, Chris, on a few occasions. He was so helpful and arranged a stairgate to be fitted for us, which was an absolute necessity. He also bought a second high chair and travel cots for the twins. He has a lady (also Chris) who takes care of the villa and greets you on arrival. She had organised enough provisions for us to be able to have breakfast and survive until we shopped which was great. She was also on the end of the phone when we needed help, so thanks to her too. We did realise that you don't get views like that without a hill being involved and stupidly thought we could manage without a car. The hill is a killer if you are not fit. Public transport however is very good with buses running every half hour which we made the most of. All in all a really successful holiday.

Carboneras Heaven!

5 of 5
We absolutely loved this apt! We stayed for 2 weeks and there was everything you could want as a family for having a relaxing stay with all home comforts. Fully equipped even down to little details like cool box for picnics at the beach. The view from the apt is amazing, straight out to sea and it's so quiet that you can hear the sea at night and in the morning. Being in the national park was great as you could go and see the wildlife including the flamingos which were awsome. We also went to the local water park and visited mini Hollywood for some gun slinging fun. All in all a wonderful holiday and we would certainly recommend a stay at this accommodation. 5 star heaven!
