Make a holiday apartment in Almardá your home away from home

At a beach destination that guarantees rest and relaxation, Almardá holiday apartments are ideal for both couples and families. This is a former fishing village only half an hour from the city of Valencia on the Costa del Azahar. Thanks to careful preservation of the coastline, the community around holiday homes in Almardá remains calm and pleasantly quiet, even in the middle of summer. Apartments in Almardá are enhanced by a range of added comforts, including private pools, outdoor barbecues and entertainment facilities like satellite TV.

Things to do

-Beaches: Almardá’s beach has Blue Flag status, which recognises its high level of maintenance and amenities for visitors. It has fine golden sand, gentle waves, and sits next to an unobtrusive holiday community. Six kilometres of the coast, from Casablanca down to Sagunto, is a designated natural park, ensuring perfect cleanliness and a lack of big development.

-Local history: Almardá is on the outskirts of Sagunto, a charming old town with lots of interesting historical buildings to see. Looking out over the town are the ruins of the citadel, the defensive walls of which were founded by the Romans and also strengthened 1,000 years later in Moorish times. Close by is another piece of Roman heritage—an 8,000-capacity theatre with exceptional acoustics.

-Nature: Sagunto’s hinterland is mountainous, home to the Serra Calderona Natural Park. The range is full of interesting geological features like caves that served as hideouts for highwaymen and bandits in the 18th century. Hikers can climb summits like El Gorgo, just shy of 1,000 metres, or journey into the landscape to find the Carthusian Monasteru of Porta Coeli, which was founded in the 13th century.

-Valencia: One of Spain’s major cities, Valencia warrants a visit for its history, great food and world-class visitor attractions. Families could check out the City of Arts and Science, a futuristic complex with a science museum and spectacular aquarium. The Ciutat Vella is where Valencia’s history can be discovered, and is the site of the enchanting cathedral and UNESCO-listed Silk Exchange.

-Gastronomy: The province of Valencia has given the world paella, the much-loved rice dish simmered in a large pan and containing seafood, meat or a combination of the two. Authentic “paella Valenciana” has a combination of rabbit and chicken. With rice a regional product there’s a wide range of dishes like this—arroz negro has squid or cuttlefish, while arroz al horno involves sausage and tomato.

Weather in Almardá

Almardá holiday accommodation is in a Mediterranean setting, with weather to match. May through October is warm, sunny and mostly dry. At the beginning and end of the season temperatures are in the low to mid-20s. But by mid-summer daily highs are up at 30°C, and in this part of the season there’s practically no rainfall. The transitional seasons are also very pleasant with highs of about 20°C in April and November. Winters are very mild, getting maximum temperatures of 16°C in January.

Travel to Almardá

The way to get to Almardá holiday homes from the UK is via Valencia Airport (VLC). It’s a mid-sized airport with a handful of flight links to the UK, all with budget airlines. Almardá is around 40 kilometres from the airport, taking half an hour by car. By public transport there’s the 115 bus line, which departs from Turia Station in central Valencia and stops at the neighbouring town of Puerto de Sagunto. There’s also a train station in Sagunto, and the journey takes 25 minutes from Valencia’s Estació de Nord.

Perfect apartment for a city break

5 of 5
From beginning to end of the booking it has been a very smooth process. Excellent communication from Luis at all times. The apartment is perfect, spacious, clean and a good location too. So nice to have shampoo and shower gel etc for us to use in the apartment so we didnt need to take our own although we did take some things with us which we have left behind for others to use such as suntan lotion. It takes about half hour to get to the airport via the metro, very easy journey. 17 minute walk to the Market (we timed it) which is a good starting point for the old town - it is open from 8 am until 2.30 pm. We got lost on arrival coming out of Angel Guimera station so more specific directions would have been handy but we found it after quite a walk. Plus the front door is stiff, as explained in the Tenants Notes, so persevere because we thought we couldn't get in. Angel Guimera station is quite large and there are several exits. Finding the correct exit will make your walk to the apartment much easier. Ask Luis for the exact name of the exit as I can't remember it but I know you have to walk through one section of the station to another part of it and along a different platform before exiting. The metro takes you to the beach which is huge and has s selection of umbrellas, sun loungers or just miles and miles of sand to sit on. We dined in the Marina Beach club which wasn't expensive. The apartment feels like home and has everything you would expect in your own home such as iron, hairdryer, airer, toaster, DVD etc etc. Beds were comfy and clean. The Danish supermarket is brilliant and Luis is correct in saying buy the ugly oranges they give so much juice. Thank you Luis for renting out your lovely apartment.

Really nice stay

5 of 5
The apartment was well situated near everything we wanted to visit (15-20min walk to jardin del Turin and the city of sciences) and had everything we could have needed. On top of this, Monica and Simon were very helpful from start to finish and there was a folder in the apartment with all the information we might need about how things worked and guides for Valencia. All in all this made for a very pleasant stay and I would definitely recommend it.
