Make a holiday rental villa or property in Alicante, Spain your home away from home

The second largest town of Valencia, Spain, Alicante is a vibrant town which has developed not as a tourist trap, but as a lively Spanish town with a huge appeal to tourists too. Although many visitors will spend their holiday between their accommodation in Alicante, the beaches and the bars, there are some marvellous museums and attractions to see too, as well as charming restaurants and shows to be visited.

Things to do on holiday in Alicante, Spain

Alicante accommodation is as popular as it is due to the proximity of the excellent Mediterranean beaches which line its front. Many of the fine golden sand beaches are awarded the coveted European Blue Flag each year, and people flock to villas in Alicante purely to lie back and relax with the fine sand between their toes.

The Alicante Marina is the focal point of the Alicante seafront, and not only due to the great number of bars and restaurants which spring into life during the balmy evenings. The marina is surrounded by sailing schools and water sports centres offering scuba diving, canoeing, windsurfing and sailing. Cruises and fishing trips can also be easily organised, so if you fancy heading into the warm clear waters of the Mediterranean during your stay in an Alicante property, head for the marina.

There are also 3 top class golf courses within 15km of accommodation in Alicante, all of which are open to the public. Alicante golf has helped the region to thrive as a tourist destination, due to the quality and scenery of the courses. Whilst on holiday you can also enjoy tennis, go-karting, horse riding and even flying.

For those seeking a little culture during their stay in an Alicante villa, there is plenty to keep you entertained. The beautiful 16th Century Castillo de Santa Barbara is a beautiful spot to visit, offering both fine examples of Spanish sculpting and extraordinary views across the town and along the Mediterranean coast. The remains of the Roman city of Lucentum are also hugely worth visiting from an Alicante apartment, and there are some exquisite museums to give you a sense of the history of Alicante.

Places to holiday in Alicante, Spain

The town of El Campello is a veritable golf mine of Spanish culture. Located just a few miles down the coast from an Alicante property, El Campello attracts many visitors to its fantastic seafood restaurants which can be found around the active marina.

If you would like to escape the crowds, there are a range of quite, secluded pebble beaches just a short distance around the bay too.

Basic but clean apartment close to the cafes and restaurants and a 10 - 15 min walk to the beach

4 of 5
The apartment is in an old Alicante block with all its charms and quirky layout. The interior was basic but clean and had everything you'd want for short stay. Only downside is no real outside space to enjoy a coffee and croissant however it's only a minute away from many cafes, bars and restaurants. The beach is also a short 10 - 15 minute walk away. The apartment is easy to get to with 20 min C6 bus from the airport dropping you 5 mins away. The tram is also in easy reach if you want to go further afield. Special mention also goes to David who let us into the apartment and gave us a run down of the local area. He was also very flexible with the check out time allowing us to enjoy our last day prior to catching a later flight. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Best family chill out zone in Alicante.

5 of 5
Family holiday at this location 1st - 15th July, nine adults and three children. The villa has enough space for couples to have quite time around the grounds or in three reception rooms, one that is for adults only. Two kitchens, smaller one for light meals the larger one for family cooking all modern utensils. Coffee pot was cracked on closer inspection, Manolo had this replaced within two hours with a brand new machine. Excellent service. Any faults during our stay Manolo had the issues cleared within the hour ie fridge leaking, toilet not flushing. Would recommend this Villa to family and friends, in the process of planning our return next year. Public transport is excellent, bus trip to the city €1:45, taxi €10:50 single trip. SuperMarket 10 minute walk, check timings. Santa Faz, 7 minute walk, couple of small bars/cafe and a hotel plus open air market. Alicante is not a major tourist area as yet and English speakers are few. Our son had an app that translates English to Spanish that helped a lot but you miss out on learning a few words of Spanish. Would I do anything different? Yes, I would hire my own car and bikes.
